Texas BBQ
8 hours does seem a bit tight, but it is a "BBQ" challenge, not a "low and slow" challenge, and not a "let's set the perimeters around each contestants skills and methods," challenge. You have folks popping out hot and fast briskets at competitions in 6 hours or even less all of the time (normally using barrel type cookers). Get a hot fire going, get your brisket on and keep that fire hot at least through the stall. With briskets sometimes I go low and slow, sometimes medium-ish all the way. I never go hot and fast with them, but I know I could if I needed to, because I can "BBQ."

Best Breakfast Food
My mood can change. Right now my favorite breakfast is a two taco plate with a bacon egg and cheese taco, then a papas ranchera with bean a bacon taco. Might swap the latter out with a carne asada taco with onion, cilantro, a diced up chile toreado. and a little lime. (also, prefer my bacon in pieces, mixed in with the egg. Like 'Zilla said up there a ways, I don't like when I don't get all of the way through a full slice of bacon and pull a length of it out).

Some day a restaurant will stick at that location.

overlanding
Looks awesome. Wanting to take The Boy out adventuring a bit before he gets too much older and was pegging out west, with Balmorhea for sure on the list. Looks like a pretty clean route, as I'm not looking for anything too rough.

Yamato is always good. Newt's Thai Kitchen we like. Haven't been to Pumphouse in 10 or so years, it was a decent place then, if I remember correctly. Not sure of any other nicer places, tbh, unless they have something tucked away downtown.

Another Victoria Icon. Agree on the hot, though the regular is also good. My aunt ordered a mess of 'em for Thanksgiving last year at their place outside of Cuero.

Veracruz is solid. Has been there forever. I like La Hacienda myself.

Tried to take my oldest daughter (8) to Double J or Jim's Big Burger a couple of weekends ago, but she wouldn't abide.

Yah, something to think about. But flipping less than a week before the draft seems a little extra if you're thinking you're probably going to skip out on college.

Tennessee's field turf cost them a total of $1.25M in 2019. A description on how the infield/outfield plays etc... The biggest obstacle at Disch-Falk isn't going to be turf, the turf can be improved rather easily IMO. The biggest issue is space. Outfield space, specifically.- Texas Baseball 2025 - Your SEC regular season champions!!

It might or might not, but the real improvement would be that if that walk is after four consecutive balls, everyone at the Disch stands up and starts chanting "Ball 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"- Texas Baseball 2025 - Your SEC regular season champions!!
Yah, when someone says Texas would be the only one in the SEC with turf when at least five other schools will have it, I'll probably correct that. And yes, I do twitter, very familiar with it, and I've seen CDC answer fan questions a lot. Until I see it addressed by CDC with certainty, I'll believe what I've been told by some close to the program, vs. whatever CDC says to Uncle Jack's nephew -who's looking to get his Uncle free tickets to the game because he's a big Longhorns fan who lost his leg in a recent lawn-mowing accident but has never had a chance to go to a game and "this would really make him feel better"- on a social media site.- Texas Baseball 2025 - Your SEC regular season champions!!
I literally just pointed out that Tennessee has artificial. After a quick google search, it appears that so do Vandy and Kentucky. I'm not making it up about why they don't want to go to grass. You can always use UV lighting rolled out on wheels on the small section that doesn't get the sunlight, so the shadowing is just an excuse, as it's 2024 ffs, the technology is there (and has been if you look at -for example- German soccerin' stadiums etc..). The other reasons are why they've kept it artificial. Just wish the basepaths looked like basepaths.- Texas Baseball 2025 - Your SEC regular season champions!!
What SEC requirements? Tennessee -at the very least- plays on arti. As for what CDC has said about it, um....: Translation: "I'm not going to give the real answer to that because I don't want to piss the purists off."- Texas Baseball 2025 - Your SEC regular season champions!!
Y'all gotta get over the grass, I don't think it's happening, and it probably doesn't have as much to do with the shadowing/sun as it does not having to make-up games, and not having to cancel camps etc... Hopefully they at least paint the dirt on, though, if not go to artificial dirt (if it's worth a shit).- Schlossed and confused: When panic leads to an Earley hire
Nah, that's not hostage face, he probably just spotted a sophomore doing the wrong hand signals or some shit.- Schlossed and confused: When panic leads to an Earley hire
It doesn't just sound like it, that's exactly what it looks like. All of the names floating around for five days and you come up with Earley? It's good for keeping a lot of the team together, and stopping the bleeding so I'll give them that. Also smart coupling him with an actual HC... but then what? Who do they go to in a few years when this fails miserably?- Texas Baseball 2025 - Your SEC regular season champions!!
