Don't get me wrong -- we really enjoyed Rome. Just not in a hurry to go back there. Will be in Italy (and France) in April, but hitting Milan, Florence and Venice.- New Whataburger with New Architectural Design Theme Opens in Austin
I did not know that. Was hoping there was some red jello left- New Whataburger with New Architectural Design Theme Opens in Austin
Whataburger website says it has a drive thru It is a remodeled Lucy’s building, so hard to speculate this would be used at other locations that are built from ground up. But, hey, random speculation is what Surly is all about- Texas BBQ
Smolik’s in Mathis. Is (or was) a TM Top 50. I stopped in on teh way back from Corpus a few months ago and it was good- Shit HEB Makes (when its open).

The DFW Centurion is poorly laid out — not sure why they didn’t do something better when they rebuilt it. They also seem slow to get food out compared to other locations.- Buck's Barbeque Co.

Depends on what hotels you like. We decided a few years ago to go with Marriott (which now gives us the old SPG hotels as well). Amex Bonvoy Brilliant is the current best offering. Easy to rack up points, and instant Marriott Gold status.- Wine

Anyone else make it to the tasting at Vine Vault in Austin last night? We had a great time, and there was a good turnout- I'm retarded: going to Disney in 2 weeks.
Years ago, on my first trip to Disney, got the kids to Magic Kingdom, got through the entrance and it started raining. Kids were young, and they started crying because they thought the day was going to get ruined. We ducked under cover by a restaurant. Turns out they were doing a character breakfast. One of the restaurant workers saw the kids crying a brought a a couple of the characters (can’t remember which) for a quick hug and to sign their books. All was well, and the rain stopped in about 15 minutes. They really do get it when it comes to things like that.- Buck's Barbeque Co.
Really sorry, and hope you get something going again soon!- The France Thread
Yes, so long as you stay in town. Epernay is actually about a 30 minute drive. Refer to my post a couple up about Reims -- you can easily hit one of the nice champagne houses in Reims, and do a little sightseeing, and get a great dinner. If you want to splurge, I highly recommend staying at Les Crayeres, and having dinner there at Le Parc, which is MIchelin 2*. We stayed there 2 nights last year, and are going back in April for 2 nights. https://lescrayeres.com/en/hotel.html We took the high speed train straight from Reims (Champagne-Ardenne station, which is about 5 miles outside of town) to CDG. Train stop is at Terminal 2. Train ride is 30 minutes.- Tito's is # 1
Was all over France and Italy when we were there last year- The France Thread
Bordeaux: Incredible tiny bistro; hotel recommended, and it was awesome. Very much a locals place — Glouton, le bistrot. https://www.glouton-le-bistrot-restaurant-bordeaux.com/ El Nacional — really good local steak place —SOuth American style with tons of amazing dry-aged beef. Was recommended to us by someone who lived in Bordeaux for many years, and it did not disappoint. https://www.elnacional.fr/ And I really do recommend taking the train to Reims for a day. Hit Veuve, Ruinart or Taittinger. Get lunch at Le Jardin at Les Crayeres- The France Thread
Bordeaux is fine, but I really enjoyed Reims/Champagne more. Will be back there for a couple of nights in April you can do an easy day trip to Reims — train from downtown Paris is under an hour- The Italy Thread
Rome is not a repeat visit place; it is, however, a place to visit and see the sites once 5 nights is too much, IMO- TRAVEL: Points, Miles, Discounts, Tips, Advice & Questions
Same here — access is “free.” Slight topic hijack: My lounge preferences: 1. Centurion (but limited locations, of course) 2. Delta Sky Club 3. Admiral’s club Delta has, IMO, upped their game. The big one in Atlanta gets crowded, and some others vary, but the one in Austin is almost Centurion quality. Have not tried one of the Flagship lounges, but I know access is limited and they have limited locations
