The day the sleet started, I'd gone to watch to The Superdrum to see Tom Penders and the basketball team NUKE k-state from orbit (an upset) with three-pointers from errywere. The Drum was empty so you could sit anywhere, and I think I moved to watch at center court pretty low, if not front row. 2+ inches of sleet covered everything since the ground was already frozen since it had been literally 20F for almost a week, many people trudged on those icy sidewalks to their 8-o'clocks/etc. on The 40 Acres, and were pissed to be told their classes were canceled even though no public University announcement had been given (and there hadn't been any announcements, which is what angry students who had thoroughly checked radio/TV before starting out for campus told whoever had told them classes were canceled), but The University didn't get around/care-about to telling anyone to announce it on the radio (590 AM KLBJ) until 11am-noon. Clusterfuck! Before that official canceled classes announcement, I had called KLBJ-AM's news department to ask if they had heard anything from University administration about classes. Whoever it was told me they hadn't heard anything from them, and agreed it was strange that UT hadn't said anything. I lived too far from campus to even attempt to walk there. Almost 10 days from exactly 30 years! Lulz.
This sleet/ice-storm is January 1996 Redux (prolly ~10 days from exactly 30 years later) if the olds remember, right on the first day of the 1996 Spring semester. 2+inches of sleet covered everything since the ground was already frozen since it had been literally 20F for almost a week, many people trudged on those icy sidewalks to their 8-o'clocks/etc. on The 40 Acres, and were pissed to be told their classes were canceled even though no public University announcement had been given (and there hadn't been any announcements, which is what angry students who had thoroughly checked radio/TV before starting out for campus told whoever had told them classes were canceled), but The University didn't get around/care-about to telling anyone to announce it on the radio (590 AM KLBJ) until 11am-noon. FIFY BTW, this sleet/ice-storm is January 1996 Redux (prolly ~10 days from exactly 30 years later) if the olds remember, right on the first day of the 1996 Spring semester.
I said we'd find out after the season that Wingo had broken-hands/broken-wrists. Sark played him anyway so he could drop passes! WTF, Sark! Can you play WRs without broken-hands/broken-wrists (like with Xavier Worthy also) so we can, you know, not have dropped passes, and win football games?!?! FFS
