  1. Bears repeating.
  2. I used to have a truck like that.
  3. No idea what to make of the next OU hire. It's been over twenty years since they've done a coaching search. Stoops can do the bowl game, but he's gained 30+ pounds and has been enjoying the good life. He's made his money, & can't imagine him wanting to jump back into the grind, long term. There's not a slam dunk hire out there. It's a dangerous time for the Sooners.
  4. Don Knotts nailed more pussy than John Holmes ever thought about.
  5. Wouldn't surprise me to see Thompson portal out. He's been busting his ass with an injured throwing hand, and Sark hasn't defended him at all in any of his pressers, and it looks like he's looking for ANYONE to replace him. Dude's leading the B12 in touchdown passes, and he's been running for his life and wearing 275 pound defensive end necklaces all season. He's got Worthy and the butterfingers squad for receivers. Worthy's good, but you've got to have more than one guy who's a threat.
  6. Added to that, Dillon Doyle is a starting linebacker, and came from Iowa when his dad got fired there. Drew Estrada has gotten extensive playing time at inside receiver. Siaki Ika came from LSU. The first red flag for me was when Sark didn't hit for offensive linemen in the portal, deciding to stand pat. Also, if the UT strength and conditioning program was worth a shit, they'd have three more wins this year. The Horns need to portal in a S&C coach.
  7. When Herman was at Houston, he got an upset win over Oklahoma, and a lot of people got stars in their eyes, not just big money donors.
  8. posrep for knowing how to spell "eke."
  9. Overtime would be magic. I don't want this game to end.
  10. Oklahoma sleeps with the fishes...
  11. Coaching 4 and 5 stars is different. At a P5 college level, one of the toughest things is teaching players how to be teammates. Every one of them, when they were in high school, they were the team, and everyone else had to get along with them. A three star is fighting his butt off to get a P5 offer. Four and five stars can choose between twenty solid schools. After they get to their college, you don't have a star rating, anymore. You have a player. Additionally, a lot of them made it on pure talent, and didn't have to correct their weaknesses. Saban's big strength is getting four and five stars to play like they're thrilled to make the team and may get benched if they don't excel. Read an interview with a Saban player, and he talked about when he got to his dorm he hung up his all state plaque, put his trophies on display, etc. He said Saban walked in and said, "Take that shit down. Everyone here has that." Saban knows how to motivate these guys without alienating them. Recruiting IS important, but there's a reason schools like Iowa State, Baylor and TCU have frequently placed higher than their recruiting rankings say they should. SOME three stars are a lot hungrier than SOME four stars, and some coaching staffs spend all their time coaching them up. A coached up three star will put an unmotivated four star on his ass. And yeah, if a guy gets offered by Alabama, LSU, Ohio State and Notre Dame, his star rating will go up over the same player if he gets offers from Purdue, Rutgers and Mississippi State.
  12. I'm up for a truce. Always like your posts.
  13. OK, cool. Hook 'Em
  14. I forget the year, but it was at TCU when Ahmad Dixon laid out the TCU receiver and got ejected. After the game, I watched Patterson come running up to Briles. He stopped about five yards away, started shouting, then turned around and ran away shouting over his shoulder. Briles grinned and hollered, "Shake it off, coach." Patterson was physically scared of Briles, and he should have been. Briles was a workout beast, even in his fifties, and had just enough crazy in him to throw down in the middle of a game.
  15. I responded with a laugh cause you know how butt hurt Patterson always gets? He HATED Art Briles more than he hated any other coach. He was also physically scared of him. Nothing would make him crazier than being replaced by Briles. Briles would take the job, too.
  16. About the Texas tackling technique...
  17. Rogers looks like he wants to murder a hooker right now. He any relation to Craig James?
  18. Personal peeve when players wear those penalty flag colored shoes. Always looks like a ref threw the flag.
  19. It really would make a lot of sense for them to do that. The cost of broadcast quality equipment has gone down dramatically, and with the internet, distribution costs are lower. You'd think there'd be a market for good, actual amateur football, and with fewer commercials, games being three hours or less, instead of the 4 1/2 hour marathons some of them are now. They'd never make P5 money, but they could pocket some cash, and it would be terrific advertising for the individual colleges.
  20. Yeah, I know, been a month, BUT: Nothing good ever comes from talking to a reporter or a cop. Exception on reporters: If you're drumming up publicity for an event, or something like that, it's okay. If a reporter wants to talk to you about a case, there's no up side.
