  1. Warning CSB incoming. That 1992 team was my freshman year. I arrived at UT as a very wide eyed boy from a small town in west Texas. I was very broke but my summer work combined with a modest scholarship allowed me to get the all sports package with my tuition. It was a very modest price back in the day. I went to every sporting event I could. I fell for a girl late fall semester and come spring asked her to come to baseball games with me. We would bring our books and study during the afternoon games. She ended up falling in love with UT baseball and still loves it to this day. We are still together 34 years later.
  2. Holy shit, that's my nephew. His dad is an aggie and mom is an A&M professor. He's a sr in HS now and going to A&M next year. I tried to save him but it was an uphill battle to say the least.
  3. How much would you say you care? A lot.
  4. My username is a name based on the initials of some folks I care about.
  5. Less vs fewer is also a real struggle around here. In a world of 1 year deals it doesn’t make sense to pay a high school recruit unless they are going to contribute as freshman. Maybe classes of 10ish should become common at the major schools. Everyone else goes to a lower tier to get playtime and increase their value for the next portal window. It also means the Barnes move make sense. Everything is about maximizing your value for the next window. Better to get tons of snaps at Wyoming than very few snaps at Texas. Quality depth is now almost impossible and injury luck will go a long way toward determining the champion.
  6. Bill in Sinton, those were the days.
  7. I’m an old, been on these boards since they were invented. Was around for “I’m stunned, I’m pissed” and long before. Obviously I don’t post much but this sooner has repeatedly acknowledged their recent futility and been humble on this thread. I’ve learned over the years that CFB can be nothing but upside for your life, even when we are losing. It can always be fun. I appreciate riding rivals hard even when they try to be nice but this isn’t even clever. Take a minute and put your degree to work so it is at least entertaining.
  8. Moving sucks. You’ve got your shit sorted at your place, chicks are all lined up. This is the best portal strategy for players in my opinion. Threaten to leave, get a raise and stay put.
  9. One issue that is rarely addressed here is that if you sign someone like Brown at 1.5 this early you risk having your most valuable current players threaten to jump in the portal if they aren’t adjusted based on the level you set with the new guy. That 1.5m could end up costing you 10m or more to keep everyone home and happy.
  10. I live near Pasadena and one of my best friends who went to IU texts me late last night saying the casuals and scalpers are dumping tickets because of the rain forecast. I grabbed 2 in good seats for well under $100 and went today. It was glorious. I’m all in on an IU national championship. Would be the craziest story line in cfb history.

  12. Anyone else hear Bobby mention this morning that Eddrick Houston got injured again last week or earlier this week? Surprised we are just now hearing about it. He didn't say anything about the severity but implied that it could impact the game.
  13. Wink Martindale was brought in specifically for continuity though. The last 3 Michigan DCs have all come from the Baltimore Ravens staff: Mike Macdonald, Jesse Minter, and now Wink Martindale. We’ve dismissed most of the Michigan comps from last year and rightly so. But there is one particular similarity that does apply. Both Michigan and OSU have/had a talented but shallow defensive line combined with new a defensive coordinator. When you watch the Michigan game it is obvious that the plan was to exhaust the DL starters then pound the ball when the second string came in. I would be surprised if we don’t see a similar plan on Saturday. Especially now that Baxter can be part of the pounding. That means early on we might see more tempo and outside zone schemes to get the OSU DL running from sideline to sideline. Once they are exhausted we follow with the gap power run game.
