Palo Alto Super Regional: Texas @ Stanford
All things considered this team competed their ass off this year, especially in the postseason. Went above and beyond their actual level of play imo. Big thanks to Geno for developing into a machine, DC being one of the best 5 tool guys we’ve seen in a bit, Kennedy for coming back a 5th year, LBJ grinding through tough spots in the year and coming out better from it, and then Zane who peaked at the best time. There are some that I’m missing but I’m proud of this group of players. Many times they were labeled a rebuild team, and to an extent rightfully so when looking at the talent we lost. But here they were battling against Stanford in the supers and almost coming away with a trip to Omaha. For Pierce, this was a year that he did more with less. Solid coaching effort by him and the staff. Excited to see how Woody develops our future pitching.

I think it being intentionally taken off is the problem there. Helmets fly off all the time. Just a weird moment

Some context for the helmet toss

I think Daly was the only guy that saw. Not sure O’Dowd did.

What was the LHN commercial from a year ago where it was the softball team with a song that said the same thing over and over again

Miami was a solid hitting team but this Stanford team doesn’t mess around when pitchers miss over the plate.

Massive hat tip to Zane. He’s given it his all and we would be ultra fucked without him right now.

Nah. On slow no it looks that way but for me he did a good job of just staying put while moving his shoulders away. Natural instinct a lot of times is to bring the hands in.

Porter didn’t initiate shit. He just didn’t move his arm away.

Powell is so dam good at 2 strike hitting.

Total silence when a Texas pitcher gets squeezed. But no, Bruno is getting squeezed and now we’re going to show replays of it. He faced one batter lmao

Oh no Bruno

Finally, two outs. Lets get Kennedy home.

Palo Alto Super Regional: Texas @ Stanford
No… he was recruited as a catcher, played the position his freshman year then made the switch to the infield. It’s possible to switch positions and still not start.

Palo Alto Super Regional: Texas @ Stanford
Yeah that probably plays a role but I originally thought he made the switch after his freshman year.

I mean he’s a redshirt junior that always showed the ability to hit but never could find a role. If Flores doesn’t struggle in the field he’s still our third baseman. One could assume that his defense may have played a role in that. I believe he has the lowest fielding percentage on the team that has logged enough starts in the field.

Powell defense is probably why we’re just now seeing him this year.

Staring down Zane after an obvious missed strike call is something

We roll over waaaaay too much

False. He’s writing a 50 page essay on how to solve world hunger.

First game in the CWS we struck out like 20 times and looked totally clueless at the plate. Next game we went on to beat Tennessee’s ass to live another day. Like Pierce said, the “the strength of this team, is the team.”
