  1. There's one good- but not great- Euro shooter, and he might not be available at #3 If you just want a shooter, then Sheppard, Dillingham, and Knecht are all potentially elite shooters, with Sheppard potentially being one of the best in the league
  2. It seems that NYK is trying to negotiate with OG, while OG just wants the biggest contract possible, which NYK is struggling to make work
  3. Vecenie says that he's heard just about every name possible connected to SA at pick #8 from teams around the league, so they've done a good job at smoke screening. He does say that Salaun pops up a lot
  4. I don't see the point of a KD trade. Whoever we cash in on needs to be a longer term option. Sengun plus stuff for Booker is fine, although I don't think the Suns make that move until after this season if they miss the playoffs in an ugly fashion. Booker also makes Green redundant and expendable
  5. Hurley let Andre Jackson shoot more threes per game than Castle
  6. Fwiw, Vecenie said on his pod that Carter is "his guy" in this class who he'd pound the table for, followed by Bub Carrington. Not sure where he ended up with him ranked, but he's probably not too far from #4. He doesn't take anything off the table in terms of defense and offensive spacing. That's fair on pairing Knecht and Carter together. Maybe Williams with #8 if he's there Givony talked about going to watch Castle before games to shoot video for his espn blurbs, and he struggled to find videos of Castle making three shots in a row
  7. What about Carter at 4 and Knecht at 8? I'd be concerned about Castle's shooting
  8. I think it was closer to fine than fantastic
  9. They traded the likely difference between the nets pick and the suns pick in 2025 for the two 2029 picks. The 2026 vs 2027 might be close to a wash Don’t love it because I’d want to keep my lotto chances in 2025 (nets probably finish in the 5-10 range again with Bridges), but they did pick up 2029 picks
  10. Talking Rockets offseason starting at the 28:00 minute mark https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ron-holland-scouting-report-washington-houston-offseasons/id986901174?i=1000660022580
  11. Happy draft week 1) Risacher 2) Sarr 3) Sheppard 4) Castle 5) Buzelis 6) Knecht 7) Clingan 😎 Dillingham 9) Williams 10) Topic 11) Carter 12) Salaun 13) Holland 14) Walter https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/40403204/2024-nba-mock-draft-latest-first-second-round-predictions-all-58-picks
  12. Teams prefer to keep contracts like that on the roster so they have salaries to match a large contract
  13. It depends on how you evaluate him Do you think he'll hold up when he gets hunted and picked on defensively? So far, he's been a much better off the ball defender than on the ball, and he gets blown by at times Is he merely a shooter, or does he add rim pressure, shot creation, and play making?
  14. Fischer's article says if Houston trades #3, they want a future unprotected pick, which is what I was thinking as well
  15. Yeah Houston has run into that issue. They traded away three recent first round players for nothing, and they still have a glut The move only really makes sense if (1) SA is sold on Sheppard and (2) they're confident they'll be good enough next season to where they're comfortable with not having those lotto odds It would make more sense to try and package lesser picks for a swap from 4 or 8 to 3
  16. I took it as trading the pick for Sheppard, not swapping. So the Spurs would have #3, 4, and 8
  17. Vecenie was on today's Russillo pod, by the way 1) Clingan 2) Sarr 3) Sheppard 4) Risacher 5) Buzelis 6) Castle 7) Williams '8) Knecht 9) Carter 10) Salaun 11) Topic 12) Carrington 13) Dillingham 14) Edey 15) Holland
  18. There's a report out that USA could replace Kawhi with Derrick White I've been thinking they'd potentially replace Embiid with Chet or Draymond, and Halliburton with Kyrie or Brunson, but I wonder if they'd go Horford and Jaylen Brown?
  19. The scuttle is that the Atlanta coach likes Clingan. It's known that several teams in the second half of the lotto really want Clingan (including Memphis), so it's possible that this is just Atlanta trying to pump up trade interest in Clingan Vecenie is the best evaluator out of the draft guys imo, and "his guy" this year is Devin Carter, followed by Bub Carrington. He hasn't released a final big board, but has said on pods that Carter might be around #8 and Carrington in the top 10. He loves the guards in this class, and is lukewarm on the wings, who all seem to have various flaws Listening to Duncan/Leroux and they don't understand why anyone would have Clingan or Risacher over Sarr. They view Sarr as Nic Claxton ish on defense, and some mix of Mobley and Wendell Carter Jr on offense. Not great on anything on either side of the ball, but is also at least good at most everything, and doesn't take anything off the table because he's not a shooter you'll just leave alone, and he's relatively switchable on defense. They do note that he's not a great rebounder though for a center. They view that archetype as valuable in today's NBA Most seem to think it's Sheppard to Houston if they can't net a large return in a trade. Not sure if they'd take him over Sarr though if Sarr slips. Many think they want a 2025 unprotected from a likely lotto team.
  20. 1) Risacher- notes that he thinks it's between Risacher and Clingan. They haven't been able to bring Sarr in for a workout yet. They're working out a ton of players, which means they'll potentially have options they're comfortable with if they trade back 2) Sarr- rival teams think this is Risacher or Sarr. Sarr has worked out for Washington and not Atlanta 3) Sheppard- viewed as having a narrow range since both Houston and San Antonio are viewed as liking him at #3 and #4, and the Hawks (in a trade back to #3-#4) and Hornets (at #6) also are viewed as potential landing spots. Houston could trade this pick for a team looking to trade up for Clingan 4) Castle- thinks Castle at #4 (if Risacher and Sheppard are gone) and Dillingham at #8 could be targets at this spots. Also Knecht at #8 5) Buzelis- the league views this as a fit 6) Knecht- draft range is #4-#9 7) Clingan- while Atlanta at #1 could be a landing spot, Houston, SA, Detroit, and Charlotte aren't fits, and teams after those want him, which makes him a prime trade candidate '8) Dillingham- hasn't been able to work out for teams due to an ankle injury he's just now getting over 9) Williams- worked out for every team in the top ten except for Houston 10) Topic- his ACL injury has sunk him a bit. Visits with Portland (7/14), SA (8), Memphis (9), and Utah (10). Team needs to be comfortable with a redshirt year, and he makes sense for teams looking to tank for Flagg 11) Carter- draft range might be #8-#11 12) Saluan 13) Holland- Sacramento has been exploring trade options with this pick 14) Walter
  21. Which "core six" would you be most open to trading?
  22. As a Rockets fan, I hope this is the way San Antonio is thinking
  23. Not a Spurs fan, but it seems to me that they should do their best to find a way to land Sarr. His archetype is an excellent fit with Wemba. If he hits, they have two switchable and rangy rim protectors on defense and two spacing bigs on offense
  24. Sheppard seems to be the mock across the board lately
