Speak for yourself. I care about every game. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the younger players work their way into bigger roles. This game and the practices go a long way to that end.
Would it be worth it in the playoff? The risk is there in every practice, scrimmage, spring game, pick up basketball game, etc. Should we bubble wrap them?
Personally, I want them pissed off. I want them to kick the everliving shit out of Michigan and then be out for blood next season. Having a chip on their shoulder is good.
I went over to my parents' house where my ptsd Vietnam vet conspiracy theory nutcase uncle joined us. He sat in my mom's rocker most of the day with his laptop while we watched football. Every few minutes he would look up and say, "did you know..." and then launch into another easily debunked falsehood. My parents go easy around him but I wasn't having it. I would look him in the eyes and say "That's bullshit. Where are you getting your information? Whatever site you are on is full of shit." "Well, it's Youtube." As if that meant that the info was vetted. I would then pull out my phone and show him real sources. He would grow quiet and go back to the laptop and then pop off with the next bit of fiction. What fucking world is he living in? I missed the opportunity but should have said, "do your own research." Dammit.
I thought this was an incredible movie, especially in today's world of seizure inducing superhero action movies. It's pace & cinematography left room for the story to breath. I had tears in my eyes as it faded to black. I found it profoundly moving.
Saw The Mack's on Friday at Mississippi Studios in Portland. I've seen them a number of times as they are local and this was their best show to date. It's obvious that they've been touring and playing a lot. They were really tight and had new arrangements for their songs that really added to the experience. If you're not familiar with them but like psych/punk you should check them out. I think that they'll grow.
I love that first album. Obviously, "Fools Gold" is one of the great songs of all time but my favorite is "I Am The Resurrection". The breakdown and jam in the middle of that song really connects with me. RIP Mani.
I feel like I got the full Brian Jonestown Massacre treatment complete with an Anton meltdown and dressing down of the FOH sound guy. He told lots of stories because he had to mess with his amp/pedals between each song for several minutes while the rest of the band waited patiently. I did enjoy having a dual tambourine song with Zia McCabe (Dandy Warhols) jumping onstage to join in the festivities.
The opener was Sun Atoms which is a side project of Peter Holmstrom (also from The Dandy Warhols). More psychedelic goodness. Loved it.
