  1. Hell, I am a lawyer and I don't particularly like lawyers. After 25 years of practice, I transitioned out of law and am exclusively doing arbitrations and mediations. If you think lawyers' antics look asinine from the outside, take a peek behind the curtain.
  2. I briefly skimmed the past 100 pages so I'm not in the loop. What did Trey Owens do to piss everybody off?
  3. I'm glad somebody started this thread. Texas football was the only sport I have ever religiously followed. However, the current state of college football is ridiculous garbage. The draw of college football has always been about school pride, rivalries, and the pageantry of the sport. I enjoyed watching players develop throughout their careers and play for the loyalty and pride of The University of Texas and for their teammates. Getting to watch players like Earl Campbell, Derrick Johnson, Roy Williams, Ricky Williams, Vince Young, etc. throughout their careers in a packed stadium was fun. You can't even get excited to see what new recruits can become or root for your favorite players in burnt orange anymore because they will be gone the next year chasing money. I'm not sure what college football is now but it isn't what I grew up with and isn't joyful anymore. It is a less talented version of the NFL, which I don't care about for the very same reasons. Watching these kids have no pride for the university or loyalty to their teammates is just sad and has just about choked the last breath out of what was once the greatest sport. Nobody cares about bowl games...only the playoffs. Nobody cares about the team...only their next payday. Nobody cares about the legacy...only immediate gratification. Nobody cares about the rivalries...only playing time. Yep, college football is hot garbage and not worth the price of admission. I'll see y'all tomorrow. Lol
  4. Personally, I find this board's constant meltdown friggin hilarious. I come here to take a break from real problems and realize I need to chill out a little myself. I would say to "just breathe" but it is too entertaining to watch the handwringing over whether a kid is going to suit up in burnt orange. Surly on!
  5. Honestly, unless you have literally nothing else to do, are you really going to watch a glorified "practice" that means absolutely nothing? Personally, I have better things to do than watch a game that has no benefits outside of recruiting possibilities. This isn't the old days where bowl games meant something. Quite frankly, I miss the old days of college football. However, college football has morphed into nothing but a business and if you aren't in the playoffs, the season is over. Now, If the team wants to play in a bowl game, I absolutely want them to enjoy it...they worked hard and earned that right. I am absolutely not advocating to skip the game out of pettiness. I'm just saying that I wouldn't care if they declined the invitation because I wouldn't watch it anyways. For me, watching the fallout with the TV execs, SEC, and playoff committee would be more entertaining than the bowl game. Just saying.
  6. Watching undeserving, mediocre teams get a chance in the playoffs is ridiculous. They need to let the BEST 12 teams play for a championship. Personally, I would rather Texas cancel all tough OOC games and replace them with cupcakes...take the Indiana/Texas A&M route and have the chance at a championship. Nobody cares who wins the Random Crap Bowl, and I wouldn't mind if Texas declines an invitation this year. Cancelling next year's Ohio State game and declining a bowl bid would cost college football a ton of money, which would create a backlash that would be fun to watch. It would be more fun to watch than whatever random G5 team, ACC team, BYU, or even Oklahoma play in the playoffs.
  7. This is a chance for Arch, Sark, and the team to make a statement and shut up the doubters. I hope they are the more physical team, bust Georgia in the mouth, and prove they are truly contenders.
  8. That made me laugh. That's gold Jerry...gold!
  9. Although off topic, the scarring horror flicks talk has been fun. It really got me thinking about movies that haunted me as a kid. My dad passed away when I was 11 and my mom was never home, leaving me to care for my younger sister quite often. I was unfortunate enough to see When a Stranger Calls around that time and, yes, it scared the crap out of me.
  10. I went and saw Carrie when I was 8 and was scarred for years. However, I saw My Bloody Valentine when I was 12 and thought it was ridiculous. I miss being able to actually sneak into movies.
  11. What happens if Oregon beats Washington in a close game but Bo Nix goes down with a season ending injury. Would THAT make Texas more appealing to the dipshits who are running this clown show?
  12. Wake me when we hire a real coaching staff. Until then, I've got paint to watch dry.
  13. Did we ever seriously recruit Aydin Breland from Mater Dei or was he just not interested in Texas?
