Yeah, Ferrari is down on HP in their turbo because they made it smaller to account for the start issues. Now Merc and McLaren are trying to claim it’s a safety issue. Would be total bullshit if they change the start and Ferrari has a long term disadvantage after they raised this issue and no other teams wanted a change so they designed for it.

Maybe but they’d likely give it right back on the straight when they’re clipping halfway down the straight. The other issue is this stuff is so complex that it’s mostly mappings and deployment controlled by the team. It’s not as simple as drivers can just press a button and pick and choose when they deploy at any time, so the teams are likely to all converge on the optimal deployment strategy.

And here’s Alonso making his feelings known. These engine regs are a joke.

Here's what Verstappen has to say about the new regs after driving for a couple days. Needless to say, he's not a fan. Lewis also had some super negative comments about how much focus has to be put on saving and energy management. Important sports news “This is unworthy of Formula 1,” Verstappen told NU.nl, among others. On Thursday in Bahrain, he spoke to the press for the first time since driving his new car. “As a driver, I always adapt, but now we drivers are only concerned with saving and managing. It makes no sense. In certain corners, you now have to go extremely slowly to recover energy. Sorry, but that belongs in Formula E. Formula 1 should be about driving as fast as possible, and we're not doing that now. It's like Formula E on steroids.”

Supposedly Merc had an engine issue and RB had a hydraulics leak that prevented either of them from getting many laps in the morning. Kimi ran 3 laps, Max had 0.

I was definitely hoping they’d have the racing yellow the use in other series.

You’re really blowing this out of proportion. No one is mandating Merc change their engine. It will still work just fine at a 16:1 ratio and probably still be the best engine. It’s literally just enforcing a rule that’s been on the books for 3 years.

Formula 1 2026
A lot of reports coming out that RBR is now joining all the other teams saying the Merc PU compression ratio violates the rules and reports are the FIA is considering a new test by Australia that will account for dynamic scenarios, i.e. the compression ratio must be 16:1 at all times, not just during a static test. It'll be interesting to see if the FIA really implements the new test that quickly and if the new test will actually capture what Merc is doing. This is not an easy thing to design a test for and accurately capture. I did expect this was coming when Toto fired off in the media at all the other engine manufacturers. He doesn't usually say stuff like that unless he knows he's already lost the battle. IMO, what Merc is doing is illegal, it's just that the FIA test wasn't going to catch it under their current testing, so it was technically legal under those testing parameters. IMO the rule is pretty clear it must be 16:1 at all times and that rule was written back in 22 or 23. The FIA didn't clarify what the test would be until last year. So if Merc designed for a loophole based on the limitations of the test and the FIA now updates the test, it's tough luck for Merc. That's a risk you take when you spend resources taking advantage of a loophole: it might get closed at some point. Merc also may not need this. They could still have the best PU and car even at the 16:1 ratio. I am surprised the FIA is changing the test this quickly., but they usually only move quickly when all teams are united against something. I thought this might not get sorted until second half of the season or even all the way to 27.

Coleman at Auburn reminds me a lot of Pickens at Pittsburgh. He caught everything that was physically possible to keep in bounds, and he's going to have a huge year in a functional offense in 2026.- Formula 1 2026
They have issues. People are saying they've failed the crash tests multiple times and will be significantly overweight to start the season on top of missing the shakedown.- Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Where are you getting this information? All I've seen is the court indicated verbally that Duke needs to let him enter the portal, pending a written order. But that order only requires he be able to enter the portal; it doesn't allow him to portal to any other school at this time. The judge recused himself, so they'll have the injunction hearing in front of a new judge and that will decide whether Mensah is enjoined from transferring to another school or if Duke is only entitled to monetary damages, same as Washington/Williams.- Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Sounds great for UT, but why would a recruit want to sign up for any of that? If they ball out at UTSA or Texas State, then they can just hit the portal and have every school in the country offering them huge money. Or they can go to another school, ball out and transfer to UT anyways. What is the upside for them to sign up for some minor league system that limits their options if they breakout?- Horns in the NFL
Sorrell started for the Packers today since they were sitting a lot of starters and had himself a day. Awesome to see him take advantage. i expect him to have a great career. - Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
