It doesn’t really matter who Pittman thinks are rivals, he’s likely getting fired after this weekend.

Surly kids who can't get into UT
My son is a sophomore at Uark and has the 80%. What I’ve noticed between his cost of attendance compared to my older son’s when he was at UT, is the difference in fees. Uark charges more in fees. And the fees can vary depending on hours taken and what college you’re in.

Surly kids who can't get into UT
My youngest just finished his first year at Arkansas and is in Walton. He knew following his older brother to UT was probably not going to be in the cards and he did not want to go to A&M or Tech. He's enjoyed it. Fayetteville is a great college town and reminds me of what Austin was like in the early 80's when I was a kid. Another nice thing is that Arkansas does not have a separate approval for your major. Once accepted you can choose any major. There are requirements to stay in your major. For Walton you have to keep a 2.5 or better in the business introductory classes (not too hard with some effort). Arkansas is growing fast and is getting a little crowded and this has made the natives restless when it comes to all the out of state students (especially Texans). The discount to out of state students is not as nice as it was a few years ago and will probably continue to be less generous.

UT Pro-Palestine Protest Thread
Because of Covid most of this year's graduating class did not have a traditional high school graduation. So for a lot of folks this one means a lot.

UT Pro-Palestine Protest Thread
I just hope for the protestors' sake this is all wrapped up by May 10th. If they interfere with graduation the protestors may need the DPS' protection from my wife and the other 8,000+ moms of graduates. Those that have spent the last few months booking reservations, ordering cakes, and scheduling photographers will be out for blood if junior doesn't walk across that stage, jump in the fountain, and get drunk. It's the 8,000+ army of Karens that Hartzell and probably Abbot should fear the most.

Texas Rho fuckheads finally charged from 2020 sexual assault incident
https://www.greekrank.com/uni/65/topic/3219952/sexual-assault-arrests/ My kid is in a frat, not Rho. This website is evidently where they post bad reviews on one another. This link includes what I assume are Rho's attempts at self-defense. i do feel dumber for reading it, but thought this forum would be interested in what the students are saying/arguing.

2022 Transfer Thread - It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Funny enough, I did earn all district honorable mention and attended Texas Lutheran. My youngest is also considering Arkansas. Great thread, I'll go back to lurking.

Move To Ban The Eyes of Texas
My kid is a sophomore at UT. I asked his opinion on the EOT debate. So, here’s another point of view from the student’s perspective: “I haven’t conducted a survey of UT students so my opinion is probably baseless. But I get the feeling that it’s a small highly motivated group of individuals on a committee, holding power and attention, that are upset. Then, the majority of students either ignorantly following the nonsense put forward or too scared to disagree with “woke culture” don’t want to oppose the change. And the remaining minority of students have no power because this is an issue of mobocracy and the only ones with the power to advocate for keeping the EYES are the pressure from alumni and Hartzell”

Racism and the Greek System (South & Texas)
My son pledged Beta this past spring. He said its diversity was a selling point. There weren’t a lot of options this past year for freshman to meet people so he appreciated the social opportunities pledging provided.

Surly kids applying / attending UT
This was how it worked last year and the UT Admissions Rep that came to our high school described it the same way. Certainly possible they changed policies in the last year. But most, if not all, auto admin decisions come out in the fall before the high school semester has ended. I don’t know if UT considers senior year grades/activities for major approval or non-auto admin since those determinations may not be made until the spring. Our son’s preferred major was in COLA so it was not as competitive. One other affect on class ranking that we discovered was early graduates did lower the end of the year junior class numbers. So, the class ranking percentage can drop based on the smaller class.

Surly kids applying / attending UT
Our son is a freshman at UT this year and this thread reminds me of all the same questions we had last year. Your class rank is locked in at the end of your junior year in regards to your application. Whatever happens to your rank your senior year has no affect on your admittance. Our kid was barely in top 6% end of junior year and end of senior he dropped a few spots to top 7% despite his GPA going up. Despite that senior drop in rankings he was auto admin. Who on here does not have a degree from UT Austin?
I only lurk, but since you asked, no. Accepted but chose the small private college route. Dad graduated from UT, wife got her masters there, and my son is a freshman this fall.
