  1. Late to the party, but wanted to weigh in. If you were to ask me what Luke's defining attribute is as a character, it would be faith. He has faith in his friends, in the Force, in himself, and has always believed that there's good in everyone. When presented with Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, Luke looked at him and said "there's still good in him". And he was right. Now we as an audience are supposed to believe that Luke Skywalker, the man who brought Darth Freaking Vader back to the light, is going to murder his own nephew in his sleep because he thinks there's a darkness in him? That goes beyond lazy writing. It's fundamental shift in character by someone who evidently never watched Star Wars in his life and thought he could do better by "subverting the expectations". It was, and remains, the biggest slap in the face to Star Wars fans this side of "Somehow, Palpatine has returned".
  2. 3 leg parley ATS +614 odds: La Salle Explorers (+10) Radford Highlanders (+9.5) Maryland Terrapins (+18) Another one, same odds: Murray State Racers (-4.5) The Citadel Bulldogs (+11) Davidson Wildcats (-4.5) I realized after betting I should have moved the line to .5 on all of them to avoid a push, but since the bookie doesn't push the whole parley, just that leg, I'll consider it a hedge of sorts. We'll see how these do tonight.
  3. As the 4th place finisher, I was profoundly hoping for that scenario. Congrats to the victors, let’s do it again next trip around!
  4. Adding women’s gymnastics to UT Athletics sounds like a fine plan to me.
  5. I volunteer to go undercover at UCLA.
  6. So we whiff on our major targets the first weekend. Let's see how we do next time through the order. If we haven't landed anyone of consequence to fix our "glaring for months like Chernobyl" needs along the offensive line by the 7th inning stretch, it may be time to put in some pinch-hitters.
  7. Agreed. I feel like it’s getting twisted around to where people think I’m saying VY wasn’t awesome. I’m just saying that ‘04 VY was an awesome QB that had not yet been put on Mount Rushmore yet, with a goose egg to OU and several spotty games on his ledger to that point. Much like Arch to this point has some real stinkers but also some badass “put the team on his back” moments. It remains to be seen whether Arch will take the next step, but we sure as hell know what happened when Vince did.
  8. 4th and 18 was awesome, but being down to 2004 Kansas with 4 minutes to go in the final quarter and needing a miracle play to pull it out doesn’t really support that he was college football’s god quite yet. We beat them 66-14 the next year when VY ascended.
  9. If he’s wearing burnt orange, that’s a 10 yard holding penalty.
  10. Agreed. And they’ll keep doing it, just like this past August, and everyone will lap that shit up as if they’ve never been hoodwinked before.
  11. HAHAHAHAHAHA Thanks for the laugh. I was around for VY, and for Simms/Applewhite, and for Brown, and for Morentz, and for Peter the Great. I know just how good VY was. He's my favorite Longhorn ever. I've met him. All I am trying to say is that as of the 2004 season, Vince Young was not the player you are referencing or remembering. He was not the inevitable machine that he was in 2005. Lord knows if Arch will get there, but his trajectory is favorable and he has all the tools. Hopefully he'll keep growing. That's all I was trying to interject. Carry on.
