This is an absolute microcosm of the entire staff (on and off the field) and hence the program right now.

well, I think I was replying to this quote "he built that Montana state program from the ground up and they are actually great now." by noting that he in fact built fuckall because Montana State was a conference champion 7 of the 10 years prior to Choate taking the job. That 8-5 season - they finished 2nd in the conference and made the playoffs. It's a weird hill to die on - but if you think Choate built Montana State from the ground up have at it. I think you and I have vastly different ideas of what building from the ground up means. Taking over a job where a team had it's first losing season in 20 years (5-6), a team that had won the conference 7 of 10 seasons -- is not a rebuild and it is certainly not from the ground up - it's simply righting the ship. I mean, I do have an axe to grind - Choate is terrible at his job. Ford's biggest improvement was simply being put on the field and he was only on the field when injury forced Choate's hand because ... wait for it .... Choate did a terrible job this year. He was all over the goddamn field vs. OkSt. and that had nothing to do with developing over the year. He showed as much in the last few games of 2020 which is why so many of us on this board were excited about him. Do you think Overshown, Gbenda, Richardson, and Brockermeyer all showed improvement as the season went on as well, proving your point on development by showing the entire unit? Or maybe is it simply that Ford is a better player than the guys in front of him and should've been playing all season only proving my point?

who is they? Sarkisian and CDC? No one is holding them accountable for fielding the worst Texas team of the modern era. Uhm, WUT? Montana State was a fucking top 10 team and won the Patriot 3 years running only to be eliminated from the playoffs by NDSU, and SHSU twice. They won their conference 7 times in 10 years with Kramer and Ash before Choate was hired. Choate built fuckall. The dropoff in our LBs from Hutzler to Choate was a fucking cliff and there's no reason that he should still be employed at Texas.

I thought Napier should’ve been interviewed here but we anointed instead of actually interviewing so it’s a cows point. @closetojumping has better sources on this than me, so let him clarify if I’m wrong, but my impression is that Saban thinks Napier is THE guy of all his former assistant coaches. anyone who knows me knows I fucking hate the Gators but that was a great hire and it looks like they are saying yes to anything he’s asked for with the expansion in the support staff size and assistants salary pool.- 2022 Transfer Thread - It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Because we had Alford and Jerrin in the boat. Because Gonzales had a 4.58 shuttle and a 4.74 40. Because we also were pursuing at various points - Ryan Watts, Chris Thompson, Myles Slusher, Lathan Ransom, Kamar Wilcoxon, Joshua Eaton, Sam Adams, and Bryson Washington.- 2022 Transfer Thread - It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Willful ignorance certainly is a choice. who led the team in TFLs this year? Jaylan Ford and yet Brockermeyer played almost 500 snaps, and he would’ve been well over 500 if not injured. Ray Thornton was not just our lowest graded defender this season, he is the lowest graded defensive player at Texas that anyone can remember and he played 500 snaps. In those 500 snaps that fucking spare had 1 sack and 4.5 TFL. Jett Bush who should never be on the field had 3.5 TFLs and a sack (basically the same production) in 180 snaps and he is not one of the best 33 defensive players on the roster. schooler. Foster. Etc… meathead coaches do meathead shit. Film at 11.- 2022 Transfer Thread - It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

Choice is on the fast path to -> OC -> HC. He is a tireless recruiter and an excellent developer. I don’t know about Coleman but right now this off-season is fucking fire. let’s go ahead and assume that Coleman will get replaced by an ace recruiter because that’s what this off-season has been like so far. \m/- Texas Recruiting Notes 2022 - Idiotic Slapfights Unrelated To 2022 Recruiting

The reason Sark made the comment at all is because, like I said before, if Patterson is hired it would be to be prepared for a role as interim HC not as a consultant/QA to fix the defense (despite whatever role is announced publicly) and Sarkisian knows it - hence the defensiveness.- 2022 Transfer Thread - It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

Eli Stowers. Haynes King. Zach Calzada. James Foster. James Blackman. Malik Henry. Deondre Francois. De'Andre Johnson. JJ Cosentino. John Franklin III. Jameis Winston. He simply doesn't recruit QBs that fit his scheme. Nix is right in line with this list. - 2022 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
