- Shall we talk about heavy music?
Fuuuck. This is one of those where even though he was relatively young (41), he'd been around forever. A metal fixture. My favorite riff is from Are You Dead Yet. Man. fuck.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2021
My feelings are that the narrative of Sam Ehlinger and the real Sam Ehlinger are two very different things. The narrative is that he's this amazing--and I hate this phrase--"leader of men" who motivated his teammates yada yada. TBH I literally never saw this, other than his play on the field at times, which was nothing to sneeze at. He certainly led by example and laid it all on the line physically. But that's just a person that wants to win. And simply wanting to win does not a leader make. All the players want to win. Leadership is something else. That said, Sam's hate for Herman was palpable and honestly I think it affected his play. He felt hamstrung by the play calling usually from the second series through the last series of the third quarter. This was the same story every damned game. Only in desperation did the handcuffs come off and that was where Ehlinger shined. But the point of leadership is doing it through adversity. And Sam's demeanor, body language, and play--those things we can glean through the television screen, were in my opinion, always pretty bad in during the second act of each game when the play calling became lackluster. The team fed off of Sam's vibe. There was rarely a game over the last four years--and there were exceptions, sure--where Sam and the offense looked engaged for the duration of the game. Defense: different story. They were always engaged whether or not they were getting shelled. I think it's because they had better leaders even when play calling was hindering them. So it's a good comparison. Orlando was an anchor, but those players continued to play their asses off. Herman was an anchor on the offense and the players often phoned it in. Sam included.- Tom Herman Fired as UT Football Coach
Hey guess what? We're a basketball school now too.- 2021 Sugar Bowl - Ohio State vs Clemson 7PM on ESPN
bottom line is this is what I'm talking about when I say that proper tackling is not "face up" and is in fact "head down". I am not advocating leading with crown of helmet, but it can be an inadvertent result when things are moving at 100 miles an hour. You try to use shoulder but sometimes split second variables don't allow that. These guys all put shoulder into hip or thigh, head down.- 2021 Sugar Bowl - Ohio State vs Clemson 7PM on ESPN
Link the whole article, cheapass. Not just the abstract. I want to read it.- 2021 Sugar Bowl - Ohio State vs Clemson 7PM on ESPN
Let me go back in time and redo all of my tackles your way and see what happens.- 2021 Sugar Bowl - Ohio State vs Clemson 7PM on ESPN
Respectfully, I was talking about how tackles are made. You don't have to get butthurt because you've treated people with serious injuries from playing football. I completely agree that there are aspects of football that are barbaric and frankly think it should evolve into rugby in order to be safer (no forward pass). But while people are still playing games with tackling, it is ludicrous to force the tackler to do so while looking up and smiling at the opposing player.- 2021 Sugar Bowl - Ohio State vs Clemson 7PM on ESPN
I'm not going to debate the merits of whether or not football should be played. I'm here to say that having made hundreds of tackles myself (played rugby for 13 years), if I had been doing it with my head pulled back (which is the effect when your shoulders and back are horizontal to the ground), my own neck would have been broken. Targeting is a stupid rule when talking about tackles below the head.- 2021 Sugar Bowl - Ohio State vs Clemson 7PM on ESPN
That was a perfect tackle. That's how tackles are made. You don't fucking throw your head back to make a tackle. The targeting to the head I totally get. But to the body? Fuck that.- 2021 Sugar Bowl - Ohio State vs Clemson 7PM on ESPN
Wow. I think you could hear is ribs splintering.- Urban Meyer or bust

Don't let these degenerates talk you into anything. Next thing you know they're asking you to stock up on sharpies. Don't get me started.- Urban Meyer or bust
Good on Sam leaving. Love him, but it's time. A+ heart, B+ Quarterback.- 2020 Alamo Bowl: Texas vs. Colorado
9 players caught passes tonight. Jake Smith was not one.- 2020 Alamo Bowl: Texas vs. Colorado
And every ounce of it is on TH. I blame him for TCU as well. They are shit and it never should have come down to a last second TD to win. He doesn't evaluate players well, he doesn't rotate them (or delegate rotations well), he sucks at meddling in the offense, and he is a terrible game manager. Every loss this year is on his ass.- 2020 Alamo Bowl: Texas vs. Colorado
What's crazy is that RoJo is NOT a slow rb. But compared to Bijan, he is. Amazing.- 2020 Alamo Bowl: Texas vs. Colorado
Did I fucking say that? No. Going forward is my point.- 2020 Alamo Bowl: Texas vs. Colorado
And I've seen both Sam and Casey play against this wet fart. And I know who I'd pick based on that. It ain't sam.- 2020 Alamo Bowl: Texas vs. Colorado
We got ballers out here guys. The backups have juice. Sam's got beat out of him over the last three years. - Sark after dark COACHING STAFF thread
