Electricity Provider Basics
Our son is moving to Dallas next month and has to sign on with an electricity provider. We have not resided in Texas during the era of electric deregulation, and really don't know where to start with this. Of course, the apartment management is referring us to their "preferred" electric company, which I suspect may not offer the best rates. Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

2018 Lawn and Landscape Thread
Bifenthrin (aka Talstar) is my favorite all-purpose insecticide, and it is safe around pets. Also great for fleas and ticks. It is not very selective, though. It pretty much nukes all insects, so if you have any honeybees or any other beneficial insects, this may be something you want to avoid.

Blue dye, also known as turf marker, is so you can see where you have sprayed; this stuff (Celsius) is high-dollar, so you definitely do not want to double-spray. I guess burnt orange turf marker would be preferable, if you can find it....

Any nonionic surfactant will do; available at any garden store. Unless you're spraying a cotton field, get the smallest container you can find.

Big fan of Celsius here, well worth the money. Especially nice to use in hot weather, in that it doesn't burn the grass like other herbicides can do in the heat. Add in some Certainty if you have a sedge problem, and this may be all you'll ever need. And, whatever you do, don't skip out on the surfactant.

FInishing a Butt in the Oven?
I need to start a 10lb butt on the smoker in the evening - earliest I can start is around 6:00 - and have it ready to serve at noon the next day. Kind of a screwy deal with timing, and my shitty work schedule precludes me from tending to the smoker all night. Anyone have experience starting a butt on the smoker, then finishing in the oven? Suggested times and temps for each?
