  1. Yeah, I mentioned it upthread
  2. Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely check that out
  3. No I just meant that once in a while a song would come from somewhere other that where you would normally expect, in this case a Billy Joel song, that had a killer trumpet solo (2 actually)...
  4. God damn you. He's coming to Austin, he better not! (Side note, what a glorious time that was for trumpet players, Herb, Maynard, Chuck, Chicago, BS&T, EW&F-I remember one year at jr high band camp, yeah I know, at TLC in Seguin, some guy in our dorm had the sheet music to "Got To Get You Into My Life" with the trumpet parts, we all made copies on those old xerox machines with the super slick copy paper, still have it tucked away somewhere.. even outliers like the Freddie Hubbard solo on "Zanzibar" and Singers Unlimited, check out their version of "Sweet Georgia Brown" if you've never heard it, killer...)
  5. Just saw that as well, yeah, very cool. That was always the true end of summer for me, catching the DCI finals on PBS.
  6. Dammit. Wore this LP out back in the day. As an up and coming trumpet player, Maynard and Chuck were on my turntable constantly, trying (and usually failing) to play along. Rest in peace sir.
  7. Not sure how the first one relates, but I KNOW how this one relates
  8. Goddam, I gotta pick some up, haven't had that in forever. Back when I was a kid, we celebrated all things Kraft. Miracle Whip, Sandwich Spread, Kraft Singles and this were always in our fridge (yes, we were po, dirt po):
  9. For armybrat or any other Taylor-ites, this is 366 at Rowe Valley looking toward Hwy 29. 29 at Circleville was closed, probably everyone from there to Mankin’s crossing is cut off from going anywhere
  10. Nsiap
  11. Go to YouTube, most of the San Antonio stations are live streaming coverage, KSAT and KABB providing good coverage right now
  12. This bullshit?
  13. 2010 wasn't bad
  14. My wife teaches the color guard at our high school. I asked her the other day, "is the band hall a classroom"? She said, "yeah, I guess so". I said "great, the next time you're up there you can pick out a nice clean spot to hang your copy of the Ten Commandments" (she hadn't heard about the bill getting signed yet). Tone. But then I started thinking, is the weight room a classroom? Gym? Football stadium, baseball field? Hard to argue that they are not, where does it end? I'm actually excited about this. Can't wait to see what chicanery today's youth are capable of in protesting this bullshit. At least at the high school level, if those posters make it a week without being vandalized/outright destroyed, I'll be surprised. Let the Tik Tok challenges begin!
  15. Pretty sure this is the same one I had, this is from my friend Monica, she was until recently the mayor of Granger and sings in the Taylor Czech Chorus. Kolac recipe
  16. Hell, just go get some Duck Donuts.
  17. Educate yourself. https://polkabeat.com/dances-festivals Just check the weekends, any church picnic going on, you'll find kolaches, and a lot of other good stuff too.
  18. Ha, no, I found that on a Czech facebook group. Just drive up to West and grab you some, or better yet, find a Weikel's, they're the best in my opinion. Klobase-Kolache Festival is going on in East Bernard right now, you may be able to get some if you hurry. Seriously, I used to have a recipe from an old SPJST calendar, somewhere out in my garage if I run across it I'll post it...
  19. I got you fam
