Was waiting for this. Spiegelman doesn’t seem like a scoop merchant, but a low % crystal ball on a guy that’s never had more than “use them to beef up my commitment graphic” level interest in us seemed like a big leap
Why are we canning guys without replacements lined up? There’s no reason to have staff openings for any longer than is legally required. Not that we’ve lost anyone earth shattering, but we’re still more susceptible to transfers out and only have Pierce working on transfers in
Yeah I actually don’t even think that roster sizes shrink now that I’m looking it up. That’s just what the popular reasoning was at the time. And I didn’t really notice anyone else missing in the dugout last week
It would be shocking if we could pull him. Tennessee is all in on baseball right now, can’t see them being out bid. And their staff is far and away the best in the country while he’d be building from almost nothing here.
There’s a big difference between finding the perfect missing piece to round out an order and needing to find 5 of those. And trying to replace Quintanilla with under recruited juco guys instead of elite transfers last offseason was a failure
CDC needs to tell our major coaches to retire the “…will not be entrusted to the weak nor timid” until they can go one rivalry game without filling their diapers
Pierce is one miraculous Witt outing from being 0-6 in Omaha. This team should be remembered for so much, but will be rightfully reduced to the gutless finish. At least 2018 can be justified by the stacked path we had in Omaha
The more I think about it, the more it has to be Pete. Gordon was excellent in Arlington, but he had double digit fly outs with no wind and an oceanic outfield. Drop that game in Austin and Okie Lite has a couple HRs and that game could look a lot different.
Anything Pierce can do to keep us out of the losers bracket with our staff has to be done and you go from there
Their whole body of work isn’t a great indicator for just game 1 against them. They’ve won 10 straight with Skenes on the mound. They might not be able to hang double digit runs on Gordon/Hansen, but we also won’t be hanging double digits on one of the best pitchers in the country
