Yikes! Can’t imagine how the peak summers look like.
I just booked a private tour for Sintra with skip the line tickets. Most of them combine Sintra and cascais but it felt a bit rushed to me so picked one that was just Sintra. Will try to do Cascais by myself another day.
Planning to go end of April. Flying into Lisbon from SFO and plan to drive down to Lagos the next morning. 4 days in Algarve (base in Lagos) and then 4 days in Lisbon. Traveling with 2 kids under 8 so didn’t want to switch Airbnb/ hotel too many times. Current plan:
Algarve:
- day 1: drive in. Explore Lagos old town, relax on one of the beaches.
- day 2: ponta de piedade cave tour in morning. Looking for afternoon options. Maybe drive to Sagres?
- day 3: Bengali cave tour and Silves. I’m wondering if I’ll be caved out by first cave tour and skip Benagil. Thoughts?
- day 4: zoomarine for the kids.
Lisbon:
day 1: drive up from Lagos. Afternoon open.
day 2: day trip to sintra and cascais (time permitting)
day 3: usual touristy stuff - Belem tower, explore Alfama church/ castle/ trams. Will try to catch a Benfica game in the evening.
day 4: open. Suggestions?
fly back next morning.
