Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
I would also just not try to tamper with Michigan players in the future. Those guys tend to stick together and regardless of their coaches being dipshits, their players seem to have a good culture and seem to like it there. If we have 1.6 mil to spend on a RT, I don't think we'll need to go that far down the list.

Exactly. These aren't guys that are looking to leave. It's obvious we've been tampering a while with select players and some of them got big offers from their schools to stay where they wanted to be in the first place. I think everyone here expected to land all of them but it's looking like we may only land a handful. Good thing is we have money to spend and we can tamper with other good players. There was a point we didn't get Max Claire and we ended up with Jack Endries. It's not the end of the world.

All teams have to operate with a cap now. While I'm sure Texas would love to retain everyone, you can't keep guys that want stupid money that is going to eat the cap space like Wisner, Moore that have not produced. Then you have backups that are getting offered starter level money from smaller schools. Do you want Texas to match and not use that money on the elite guys they are battling for in the portal? All the guys we are letting walk are going to schools like Baylor, Kansas, Colorado. Who have we lost that was a guy this staff values and wanted to keep? If Kibble wants to go make more money and start at Baylor, well we'll find another Nate Kibble that will gladly be a back up here for less money allowing us to throw bigger offers to get some elite starters. We can't just money whip everyone. That isn't reality.

Bo wasn't a pipeline player. It's why he didn't get reps this year. It's why we offered him a paycut. Auburn lost Cam Coleman. UGA just lost two 5 star level OL into the portal. Bama has lost a ton of high level players. Ohio State just lost a 5 star WR to the portal. Michigan may lose their starting tackle to Texas. Florida has their best edge player in the portal. Tenn just lost their starting LT to the portal. Should I keep going?

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
We had the #1 recruiting class last year. I would say they know how to take advantage of it. I mean... it hasn't even been 24 hours that we beat out Ohio State for likely the top portal CB. We're also battling them for the Wisconsin LB that may be the top portal LB. 90 % of the idiots on this board are upset that we couldn't lure in the #1 RB in the country into the portal. The only reason Sprague and the other OL even entered the portal was because Texas was tampering and offered them big money. Michigan matched and they wanted to stay. Other schools have 20 million or more to distribute as well. Half these idiots are complaining that we lost a few OL to Kansas and Baylor. Good fucking riddance. And then we have some intelligent posters here complaining we didn't take a 6 foot 290lb OL from Wyoming. Yeah, no thank you. I've seen how that plays out against SEC DL. They will go down the list and tamper with multiple good OL until one says yes. 1 week ago, we had no idea about the Michigan duo. We're likely not going to know who plan B and C are until they visit. I'm sure all are talented. With all the said, I'd bet Nick Brooks wins out and takes one of the guard spots for next year so this isn't really going to matter anyways.

Lol, please don't give Herman credit for Christian Jones. I'm pretty sure we can find posts of everyone here bitching about Jones and wishing he would transfer out. Dude improved under Flood drastically to the point that he got himself drafted. Same with Connor, most here wanted him replaced. He improved under Flood and got drafted. Neither player was on anyone's draft boards prior to Flood coaching them. DJ Campbell is about to get drafted, so your narrative about not having IOL drafted is going to be dumb. Then Baker will get drafted, so that will be 2. He hasn't run off the entire OL. We're keeping the talented ones and letting the ones that aren't high level players walk to bring in high level players. Brooks is still here, Chatman is, Cojoe, Coleman brothers are. So guys that mattered are staying. First you bitch that we didn't get transfer last year and just wanted to develop the guys on the roster. Now you are bitching that we are looking for transfer and not retaining the same players we've kept that you initially were bitching about. The stupidity on this board has reached new fucking levels. I think there are maybe 10 or less posters on this thread with actual fucking brain cells. We were 10-3, beat all our rivals, and barely missed the CFP. We have a fucking talented roster and the coaches are doing what they can to bring in even better players and letting the guys that are eating up dead money walk. Stop complaining. We're going to have a top 5 roster again for likely the 4th fucking year in a row. We're going to be a pre-season top 10 and a heavy favorite to win it all. Let the fucking coaches do their jobs that have landed 5 straight top 5 recruiting classes, record level NFL players drafted, multiple award winners, and have a damn good record against teams not named UGA and Ohio State. They are also doing this in a time where everyone is navigating through portal and agent bullshit. Let the portal window close and lets see what we end up with. Holy fuck, did all the idiots from OB and 24/7 start posting here?

Barnes was a borderline 5 star HS player. Those guys generally have expectations of playing time. He didn't get it whether it was guys ahead of him or he simply he wasn't ready yet. Sark and Muschamp clearly felt the need to go get LB. The Wisconsin guy will be drafted and looks to be a high level LB. If you had to pick between him and Barnes, who do you pick? If you're Barnes, do you sit another year knowing a stud in Atkinson is on the way that is going to take reps and seeing how the staff is already looking for a starter? This stuff is going to happen in the portal era. Roster churning and guys leaving due to NIL or playing time is a problem for every team. I'd say Texas has been one of the few teams that has actually kept it's roster together. But yeah, if I were Barnes, I'd probably portal out too knowing I'm going to have limited playing time my sophomore year.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
I'm guessing this has more to do with potentially the Wisconsin LB or Cal LB and Atkinson coming in. I imagine he's leaving due to playing time/role.

Goosby, a 3 star, is going to be a top 15 pick next year. Cam Williams, a 3 star, was drafted after 1 year of starting. Texas has had the most draft picks at OL in any time in our history in a short period of time and will have more and you want to run off the coach? Which OL coach has had more OL drafted in the last 5 years across college football? I bet the list will be very short.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Brooks, Chatman, Coleman brothers, Cojoe, is not terrible depth assuming we get a T, G in the portal and have Robertson come back. We're just not going to be in a day and age where tons of talented back ups will stay. Hell guys like Kibble will go start at Baylor and get paid. OL depth is going to be a problem for EVERY team. UGA just lost 2 talented to the portal, one of which had a high chance to be a starter next year. Assuming we end up with an OL of Goosby- Brunner- Robertson-Baker-Sprague with guys like Brooks, Chatman, Cojoe backing them up (all of whom have playing experience), it's not the worst thing in the world. That starting OL would have 3 forsure NFL players on it, 1 that is will be a top 15 pick. What other schools can say that?

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Looks like we got our #1 CB target, #1 DL target, a very good TE, and special teams locked up. Feels like defense has some more momentum as guys that are visiting and we have some high end LBs and DE in the works. Offense seems to be lagging behind big time. With that said, this is Arch’s final year. Sark will likely be judged his entire career for what he produces with the golden prince. This is the year for him and the OL and RB is looking like hot garbage at the moment. With that said, I’m going to give Sark the benefit of doubt as we have closed very well almost every year in recruiting and have done reasonably to very well in the portal. There is a chance some of the targets are still in the playoffs. Or simply that Sark and company haven’t tampered yet with plan B as they still may be waiting on plan A. If we end up with Cam Coleman, Raleek Brown, Sprague and mix them in with some more OL and the defense prospects we are in on, all this hand wringing will be for nothing. We still have money to spend. We’ve also seen Sark be stubborn and lose guys like Sharma etc in recruiting due to miscalculating the market only to come back and win those recruitments. I can see a similar scenario where we may strike out on a few guys initially but then end up throwing a stupid high offer to another prospect to lure them in as Sark’s back gets pushed against the wall each day. Regardless, I’d bet we end up with one of the better if not the best portal class when it’s all said and done. If not, it’s going to be very hard for Sark to look at the Mannings in the face and explain why their son who sat two years to wait his turn doesn’t have any OL or RBs to work with. And their endorsement matters for his reputation. Anyways, my morning rant on the shitter.

He should get called out. He kept parroting "all-in" when fans were asking why we didn't go after certain recruits or players in high school or the portal. Which is fine. But then take the lumps if certain things don't pan out. They get suckered in every year with info from the staff. I'm still waiting for these Michigan DTs to enter the portal or still waiting for the Clemson and Louisville WR to enter the portal. I still enjoy listening to them but I find it funny when they get defensive after they are the ones drumming up the excitement. Makes for good content I guess. We'll still have a very good portal I'm sure but yeah... Sark and Harris definitely miscalculated the RB market in my opinion.

Apparently, he has an ou tattoo as well from high school.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
He’s played RT all through high school and was recruited to play RT here and will likely play RT in the league. If anyone plays LT it will likely be Brooks who was getting snaps at LT in fall camp.

Things Not Going Well in Venezuela, 2.0
We used to at least pretend to be better and good and at least stage false flag attacks before killing innocent people, starting wars, and bombing other countries. Now we openly fund genocide and attack countries for oil reserves. We are the evil country in the world. And just to be clear, it’s not just this president and administration. The previous ones would just put a pretty bow on it. Happy new year everyone!

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
For those that are plugged in, how does Texas approach this. Do we put an offer and let these guys leverage it from their next visit or do we tell them to visit, get the best offer and we’ll match/beat it?
-
Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Up until this last year, we did not have to spend on OL bc we returned almost all starters 2 years in a row, almost all of whom were drafted and are in the nfl.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
yeah, he left us on a cliff hanger there…

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
huh? Looks like they are planning on revamping the OL. They are saying that they are looking for a stud RT and will move Baker inside. That doesn’t sound like a coach that is doing jack shit on OL. Same coach that has had every tackle he has coached drafted and will have another top 15 draft pick on Goosby. This year sucked to start but it’s looking like they are going to load up on OL. Bobby keeps repeating himself that Texas is going to spend a lot of money and they are not being “penny wise”. I’ve never seen Bobby talk like this. He either knows which players are coming or has been told how much they are going to spend and is giddy about it.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
I’m not saying go get him at all costs. That’s the narrative from Bobby and the other media outlets and it makes sense. Why is the analysis a lot more nuanced? Looks like they have cut a lot of bad money off the roster, are graduating key pieces that tied up big dollars and probably will have large corporate NIL backing for next season. And I don’t have to pay for Coleman. Lucky for us we have the biggest college football brand and I’m sure there a few corporate companies that will shell out money for the #1 portal prospect to be in burnt orange. We may not get him, but it won’t be because he had to choose between him or another guy. From the sounds of it, Sark is about to spend some money. Enjoy it…

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
From what Bobby is saying, I don’t think you should just pencil in Mosley at WR3. They are talking as if we are going for 2 WRs in the portal to start to pair with Wingo.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Why are you assuming we can’t get a stud WR like Coleman and 3 great iOL? Interior guards are not going to cost you a mil. We already have premium positions like QB, LT (assuming Goosby is coming back), Edge locked up. Guys leaving like Hill, Baxter, Moore, Manny are going to free up a lot of capital. Bobby has repeatedly said that the staff is looking to win a championship next season and that if we land a guy like Coleman to not assume we won’t be looking to get other high caliber players. I don’t think they’ve invested this much in building the core pieces in Arch, Simmons, Goosby to now penny pinch. Sounds like we are going push all our chips in the pile for next year. If that means Sark and Cooper Manning need to make a few calls to stroke the egos of a few donors to get another few mil to get these guys to build around Arch and Simmons, then that is not an unrealistic reality. We are maybe the best situated between donors and corporate NIL to fundraise with a Manning at QB.
