I might be off a game or two on this weekly count but looks like we will get to Sunday with:
142 out of 152 games involving two Power-5 teams played on schedule (93.4 percent)
RE: Wisconsin and the Pac-12, getting off the ground is the hardest part. I think only the SEC got underway with no issues the first couple weeks. Raging COVID numbers everywhere doesn't help
Fairly common Eagles game for me the last few years...I can't imagine losing but also don't expect to be happy either way
They may as well play this game with the injury cart rolling behind the play like an extra ref
Friday update: After this weekend, 116 out of 122 games between P5 opponents will have been played on schedule
Pct is going UP now at 95 percent. Nine weeks in, no talk of "shutting it down" from within CFB or any local government
^ I agree. If the heart implications were that widespread, local govts would have been closing gyms and even recommending against outside cardio exercise for people who recovered.
Both are working on other projects and will have fewer appearances this fall. Like sports, Hollywood trying to pack everyone's schedule to make up for lost COVID time.
On the Rocks (Rashida Jones, Bill Murray dir by Sophia Coppola) was entertaining and an easy 90 minute watch. Definitely some Lost in Translation vibes including at least one obvious callback. But mostly just a chance to see Murray in a tailor-made role for himself, and Rashida for the most part is an excellent counterpart.
Apple TV+
Looks like we get through this weekend with 94 of 99 match-ups between two power-5 opponents played on schedule
Not a math expert but I think that's almost 95 percent
We're kind of in the same boat - Eagles broke down, horrible roster (though our owner and head coach still seem OK). What I tell myself is the East champ has advanced in the playoffs even when they suck. Whoever survives will no doubt be much healthier than they are right now. And a very good chance of being favored in a home game in the first round, maybe against an underachieving Rams type team who has already beaten us both, barely. I'd rather care in January than right now, even if only for a week or two.
This has felt like a loss since the muffed punt at the beginning. SMU just hasn't cashed in enough 7's and can't count on their defense to get stops. Trap game is a trap
I'm going off @MichaelMina_lab twitter thread a few days ago for the 98 percent, or I think he put it as 1 in 50 produce a false result. His whole deal is while that actually leads to many wrong results, if you're testing every day then those mistakes are rectified quickly and with great confidence. Pretty sure they have enough data at this point to make those calculations.
Now I have no idea if that's the test Saban flunked and then passed, but the way it's being reported would indicate it was.
Bottom line, there will still be games lost due to being extra cautious and that's fine.
If those things are indeed 98 percent accurate, pretty likely Saban was a false negative considering no symptoms and no one around him seems to have tested positive (I doubt he and the AD spend a lot of time face-to-face). So a very good chance he leads the Tide out of the tunnel on Saturday night.
This wouldn't help the local folk take the virus more seriously, to say the least.
This was a bad week, but it looks like it will end with 93 percent of power-5 matchups being played on schedule (71 out of 76).
That's nowhere near shutting everything down. I agree we'll have a point soon where some games are just canceled, maybe even having a minor effect on conference championships or even CFP selections. It will be sad but funny if for example the SEC decides to scrap LSU-Florida because they need to play Georgia-Florida on Dec. 12 instead.
Yeah, Iowa too. And it hasn't even gotten terribly cold yet. In a few weeks, I'll be posting "ZERO postponements in games involving Clemson or Alabama...the playoff is safe!"
None of their teams are in Nashville or Waco so they have a decent chance of making it through. Still a shame my weekly note about P5 matchups is taking some hits.
Weekly update...looks like we will wake up Sunday with 58 out of 60 matchups between two P5 teams in the books on schedule.
"Isn't it cute" that we thought they could play college football this fall? "This is fine" cartoon; "See you in 2021"; etc.
(I know, we probably shouldn't take a victory lap with like two months left to navigate...lots of people were certain this wouldn't get off the ground at all)
Other than the details, this has been a pretty open secret for years. They have been to the Final Four and made other nice tournament runs, but this guy doesn't even get brought in for interviews at Power 5 programs. But WSU was so attached to the success they looked the other way.
I agree but the testing wasn't the same in the beginning. It's a story of money, mostly. The other ppd game was Notre Dame at Wake Forest (UND outbreak)
It's late Friday so time to update this stat. There are 16 games scheduled tomorrow between two Power 5 opponents. Assuming no last minute cancellations (pretty sure we have not seen a game called on less than 24 hours notice), that means by the end of Saturday night, 41 out of 43 matchups between two P5 teams will have been successfully played.
(I know, I should probably start waiting til Sunday to update this)
Who gives a shit what people are talking about, damn near 100 percent of voters know which way they're going. His path to victory is solely based on how much voter suppression or judicial fuckery they can get away with.
The positive test likely saves us another agonizing debate and a bunch of stupid rallies televised live nationally. The down side being he will certainly use this to amplify his anti-mask, anti-testing, etc., thus making conditions even more dangerous for everyone.
