Fireworks and HOAs
And btw, things like safety, being a good neighbor, etc, etc, are all reasonable debates, but it bothers me that the HOA sends out there notices to try to control things that are out of their control.

Fireworks and HOAs
The contract I signed says what I will and will not do on my property. Seems like it's none of their business what I do on a public road that is out of their jurisdiction. Assuming I abide by the laws of the folks that govern that road, I should be good.

Fireworks and HOAs
Searched and couldn't find a similar topic. Curious for some input from the attorneys on the board... Every New Year's and 4th of July I get an email from our HOA reminding us that fireworks are outlawed in the CC&Rs and that they can fine people who are found in violation. Forget about the fact that they aren't going to send people around to actually attempt to enforce this rule, nor could they be sure which home is in violation if people are in the street, my question is if they did come around to catch people and could identify which home those people lived in, are they legally allowed to try to enforce it? Here are some facts about where I live: 1. It is not a gated community, and the HOA does not own any of the roads in the neighborhood. 2. Fireworks are not banned where I live 3. There is no burn ban in effect Seems to me if people shoot them off in their driveways, then maybe it becomes enforceable. But lighting them in the street, where there are no restrictions by the county, means the emails are just empty threats. They couldn't enforce the fireworks clause even if they wanted to.

Austin dreams
We've been in Driftwood for almost 8 years and absolutely love it. We live in one of the neighborhoods off 1826. Bit of elbow room with a 1 acre lot, lots of house for the money, and I can avoid 290 most of the time. We're not next to anything, but we're 15-20 minutes away from pretty much anything we want. And so far we've had a good experience with the schools, but my oldest just finished 1st grade. Home prices have gone up a bit in the time we've been here, but you can still get a really nice house and lot for $600k. One downside is I pay 2.7% property tax. And 1826 is definitely getting busier, but it doesn't feel unsafe like some stretches of 290. It's just overrun by drivers going 40-45mph in a 55mph zone. PM me if you have any specific questions.

They own the land and have for a while. The fact that Nutty Brown is fully shutting down this year tells me it's only a matter of time.- Shit HEB Makes (when its open).
The trend is to built bigger and bigger stores, but my hope is when they finalize the plan for an HEB where Nutty Brown Cafe sits on 290/Nutty Brown Rd., they opt for something smaller. There are a ton of beautiful oak trees on that property, and frankly sitting out back was the highlight of a trip to the restaurant. The food was always mediocre at best. A smaller, boutique HEB with a beer garden, playground, and quick to-go options would probably kill it in that location.- Academic Cracks Codex That Has Stumped Science for 100 yrs.

I can't stop laughing at this. What the hell was his plan if he actually got off the ground? There's nothing but tall pine trees around him. I actually think his crash was the best possible outcome.- do you ever yearn?
"Why don't you just TELL me the name of the movie you selected" I quote this quite often. The sales people in our company have a hard time selling anything unless it's much cheaper than our competition. It's a real pain in the ass. The joke on the business side is "Why don't you just TELL me the price you can sell this for".- Post a pic that makes you lol
There's a lot going on in this one with no actual words spoken. Kid in the middle goes from "how YOU doing?" to "I need to tell my friend to check out this chick--nevermind the dipshit isn't even paying attention" and back to "how YOU doing?" Kid on the right is straining to use his peripheral vision to check out the the hot chick, then finally gives up and starts staring.- Post a pic that makes you lol

Stop the presses. Do you not have to wait in another security line for a connecting flight if you do it your way? I fucking hate that security check up the escalators from the International baggage claim. No pre-check, usually at least a 10 min wait, then you have to pull everything out of your bag and get undressed. I always assumed I'd have to wait in a security line if I went a different way, and I figured it wouldn't end up savings any time since it would take me a while to get to the other security check anyway.- Jimbo 2020: Strangers with Candi
I learned something new today. Daylon Mack lived up to his billing. OK.- Overrated Austin restaurants?
I don't think I've ever had anything other than exquisite service and food at Uchi. I'm certainly not a regular, but I've been 7-8 times, which is enough to see a good trend.- Overrated Austin restaurants?
That's disappointing to hear. I haven't been there in 3-4 years, but every time I ordered the tasting I felt like they forgot it was supposed to be a tasting portion. Every course was like 1/2 of a reasonable sized dish. Always left stuffed.- "San Antonio" or "San Antone"
