  1. i’d rather be an 11 than an 8, even if it means an extra game.
  2. salah was in a position to get a shot on goal and was pulled back from behind. for me that’s a penalty.
  3. this game looks like it has goals in it. like two might not be enough to win.
  4. also i think he would kill it at tennessee and would be a great replacement for barnes. it would basically be Texas 2.0.
  5. there’s already been a paradigm shift since that conversation started years ago. for more than a decade you had the same old names at the top of the profession: coach k, roy, izzo, wright, self, cal, bennett, etc. since then there’s been a “youth movement” in coaching (guys between 35-50) that includes names like lloyd, oats, otzleberger, golden, hurley, scheyer, etc. it’s not really possible right now to say where beard ranks among those guys because none of those guys are working at bottom tier programs. i think most people would still consider beard to be in the group of elite young coaches in cbb, but until he’s back in a competitive situation he can’t really be a part of the conversation. i’d personally still put him in the second tier of great coaches. a top 6–15 coach nationally. i mean ask yourself this: is tommy lloyd a slam dunk as a superior coach to chris beard? his regular season record says yes; his tourney record says no. not exactly easy to rank all of these guys when so many of the great modern coaches are more or less just getting started. hurley is no.1. after that there’s a ton of great, younger coaches out there who are all leading the new wave. beard used to be at/near the top of that list. he won’t be back there again until he’s a job or two removed from ole miss.

the very best teams from the big 12 and big 10 are better than the best teams from the sec, but it’s the middle-back end of the league that makes the sec so tough. other than south carolina it seems like anybody can beat anybody. no nights off.

    projected record: 18-13, 9-9
  9. this is his first ever step down as a coach, and it’s a massive step down. from one of the premier programs/his dream job to one of the absolute shittiest programs in major cbb, and in the best conference no less. yeah, he’s got to be depressed and disillusioned knowing what could have been, and what a long and difficult road it will be to ever get back to where he once was in this sport. one of the all time bag fumbles in cbb history. idiot.

huge three for purdue gives them the lead with 40 seconds left at home vs 8-14 oregon.
  11. yeah this is 100% a bad faith argument. don’t compare that ^^^ with fox news saying, “all of San Francisco is homeless people shitting in the streets". you said that you love shaggy because people here seek the truth, right smack dab in the middle of you repeatedly distorting if not flat out denying the truth, and then you make a bad faith argument like that and somehow see yourself as “seeking truth” and “factually right”. sounds like you’ve done your own research and come to your own conclusions. next you’ll be telling me that all of those racists from fenway and the garden were paid agitators who were bussed in from foreign countries to make boston look bad.
  12. btw boston is my favorite city that i’ve ever visited. dude boston is a notoriously racist city and you are completely delusional to think otherwise. just asked chatgpt for the most racist cities in the NE US and boston was again no.1, ahead of philly, new york, and providence. your insistence that it’s factually wrong or even outlandish to say that boston- a city famous for its racism and segregation- has lots of racists, is wild. it’s the exact sort of tribalism that usually separates the left from the right, but here you are, digging in, and denying reality to the point of total delusion. good luck with that man.
  13. i am perfectly settled right now. listen man, this isn’t about “being respectful”, it’s about being honest. boston is full of racists. that’s a fact. the city is notorious for its racism. that doesn’t mean that everyone on the city or the state is a racist; it doesn’t mean that most folks there aren’t awesome people; they can both be (and in fact are) true. boston and massachusetts are known as bastions of progressiveism, rightfully so. and boston is known for being full of racist assholes, again, rightfully so. this is why i laugh at the “derka i normally like you but you’re out of bounds here” comment, because it’s the same stuff that’s been said to me for countless years about shaka smart, sam ehlinger, quinn ewers, countless tv shows, and on and on. i’m pointing out a fact- not an opinion, but a fact- that you don’t want to hear and struggle to accept, so you get upset me for it and tell me i’m going out of bounds on this one. no i’m not. plenty of places on the northeast, including boston, are full of racist people. that’s a fact. i’m no more out of bounds on this issue than i am on any other issue that agree with me on. you’re simply taking it personally this time because you have a personal stake in the subject matter.
  14. "derka i normally like your posts, but whenever you say something critical (and accurate) about this person, place, or thing that i like then i understand why everyone hates you.” yeah i know, that makes you and every single other poster on this site, lol. imagine calling someone out for saying that racism exists in boston.
  15. boston is either no.1 or no.2 on the list of “most racist cities” by visiting professional athletes. the stories are as legendary as they are innumerable. just because most of the people there aren’t racist doesn’t mean that racism isn’t still pervasive. massachusetts as a whole is basically a big blue paradise, but boston in particular has a very well earned reputation for racism. edit: lol, i just asked chatgpt what the most racist cities are according to professional athletes and boston was “by far” no.1:
