  1. I could respond to all of the posts after mine with, “for now”. The mistake I feel I’m seeing is that people look at a snapshot in time and think things won’t change. Sure, having an AI boyfriend now seems weird. But so did computer dating at one time. Or using your credit card on the Internet. Or posting your breakfast to the Instagram every fucking day. Social media has already made the world a much worse place, but people love the dopamine hit and the bubble they put themselves in. AI will accelerate that and savvy politicians will take advantage. The middle class has been crushed already. If the government can put you on welfare and make sure you have Instagram and ChatGPT, I fear a LOT of people will be content with that.
  2. Man what a monsoon
  3. That’s a long way of saying “Disneyfied”
  4. Those who think there will be a big pushback against AI in favor of more human-made goods and services…well good luck with that. Have you read the enshittening thread? Just barely good enough is the norm, and in our current K shaped world not enough will be able to pay for non-AI products even if they want to. And they don’t want to. Humans have already shown that they can’t resist social media even though the evidence is that it’s terrible for individuals and society. You think they are going to push back on AI? New York bars are taking steps to normalize date night with your AI companion: WIREDInside the New York City Date Night for AI LoversEVA AI created a pop-up romantic date night at a Manhattan wine bar to help making AI-human relationships a “new normal.”Chinese robots already have nunchucks. Imagine what happens when you put in a Claude brain. And a vagina: I’m part of the problem. I had my best sales year ever last year selling AI. My customer saw huge drops in calls to their call center after deploying my AI chatbot. Their CEO told their CHRO that they want their 5,000 person department to be 50. There will be no meaningful pushback, especially as it continues to improve, and it will. We are barely at the beginning of this thing. AI will keep destroying sectors of the stock market and putting people out of work. Of course when the tech oligarchs are asked about this they just say “but we will cure cancer” and everyone says oh cool. It has been determined that we must continue to invest in AI because if we don’t then China/Russia/bogeyman will and then what will we do? Anyone who says their work is just too important to hand over to AI is fooling themselves. Sure maybe not right this second but give it two years. My neighbor who owns a successful small manufacturing business just got his product picked up by one of the big home improvement chains, and he had ChatGPT negotiate all of the legal and pricing terms. And as for sellers like me: CEOs don’t care about salespeople. I heard one CEO say “I think of salespeople like drill bits: I use them until they wear out or break and then I go get some more.” As soon as a Procurement bot can send an RFP to a Sales bot we are done.
  5. I guess Texans just don’t trust all them vegetarians.
  6. That’s the best title they could come up with?
  7. I was talking about a different spoiler. I accidentally saw that Baelor got killed in the fight when I looked up the reason for his brown hair.
