  1. the fact that we have enough DE/Edge rushers to put 3-4 in at one time in obvious passing situations and not have to rely on DTs to rush the QB is ....
  2. That’s why I think expectations and finding benefits along the way are so important.
  3. I was at my peak physical shape at 42-43 after getting back into it at 40 but hurt my elbow bad with poor tennis form, out for 14 months though I tried to work through it. I ended up resting for 6 months straight but no alt exercise because most of my workouts then were just tennis and I lost everything. I’m 49 (50 in a week) and just now getting back up there - to be fair other than tennis 2x a week which I never stopped I only really started this past February - but an almost a decade of aging and a few tummy pounds that will not go away. I’m not sure there’s anyway to avoid atrophy at our ages if we stop for 3-6 months, heck at this point taking 2 weeks off is hell on return. If I were down for 3 months or more I would mentally prepare for a 6-9-12 month restart depending on how long I was out and rebuild. I do think you can absolutely gain muscle mass over 50 (over 49) because I’m doing it. And if I can, any guy can, in fact as hard as it is, I would fully expect it’s actually easier than for me. I think the key is expectations. While the goal is a certain muscle mass or look, the good news is the journey back is full of health benefits too so you don’t really have to wait for 6-12 months once you get back to it, the ride itself is full of the good stuff.

  5. his sports IQ is at least one standard deviation above the norm for most posters on this board, maybe two standard deviations above the norm for the football board. he actually has very well thought out takes on most texas sports, all the time. his posts are sometimes long, he often repeats himself but as true as that is, so is the beating he takes from grown ass men who cannot help themselves. three things are true here, the sun rising and setting, derka repeating himself (oh the fucking horror) and these guys just piling on every fucking thing he says while blaming only derka for the 17 car pile up that occurs.
  6. IT'S NOT A GIVEN HE PERFORMS BETTER THAN QE EITHER. The insanity persists... it's not a given AM fails. BUT for you and a few others, AM's ride to immortal glory last year was a given.
  7. Why did I wade back into this thread? the Derka / SC spat isn't even the most annoying part.
  8. you know what else didn't happen? AM take over for QE, AM lose to AZ State or someone else and then we have a fucking disaster on our hands. the trajectory of the program is headed up and has been every single year. there was more than a theoretical risk that last year would have been a disaster with yanking QE in favor of a redshirt freshman phenom. failure to see that risk, failure to see the program is on hella solid footing, in part because of how Sark managed a VERY delicate year last year is the problem.
