Surly 2025 Bowl Mania Contest
my dumbass did just realize that i didn't include myself in the 19 paid entries earlier so it looks like it's actually 20 paid entries. 300/180/120.

Surly 2025 Bowl Mania Contest
i'm not sure who dillioncp98 is, but it looks like everyone else who currently has a shot at the top 3 (meaning their max total is 758 or higher) has paid. i always hate to delete entries in case i accidently missed something. i'll do another run through later this week when i have more time but it looks like everyone who has a change to finish in the top 3 has paid with the possible exception of dillioncp98. can whoever that is let me know your surly handle and if you paid, how you did so and on what date?

Surly 2025 Bowl Mania Contest
looks like we had 19 paid entries - so $570 in the pot. so 50/30/20 would look like: 1st - $285 2nd - $171 (we'll call it $170 to make it clean) 3rd - $114 (we'll call it $115 to make it clean)

Weapons - Josh Brolin, Julia Garner
watched this with the wife last night and thought it was incredible. such a fun movie that kept us both guessing and saying wtf throughout. i watched Barbarian whenever it started streaming and, like several on this thread, thought it was good for the first half and then kind of generic for the second half. thought this was much better.

One Battle After Another, the next Paul Thomas Anderson film
it's fine. the acting and scenery are wonderful, but the plot is fairly average. one battle after another is better.

One Battle After Another, the next Paul Thomas Anderson film
finally got the chance to watch this on hbo max and absolutely loved it. when it is inevitably nominated for best picture i am going to go see it in the theatre when they start showing all the best picture nominees. i abhor fascism and trumpism and ICE, so my worldview being in alignment with that of the filmmaker i'm sure enhanced my appreciation of it. on that note, slorch walking out 15 minutes into it is the most on brand and hilarious things i've ever seen posted on this forum. i thought Benecio del Toro was the true hero in the story and loved how casually he just took care of business/got shit done. Leo is probably my favorite working actor and he is always incredible and funny in everything he does and this was no exception. the score was fucking incredible and the mood and pacing were on point the entire time. i will watch this several more times over the next few months. very much looking forward to each of them.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
cool quote from Quinn re: his decision to enter last year's NFL draft rather than transfer somewhere else that some of these guys should probably pay attention to: "I felt like what I built with my teammates at Texas and the legacy that we built, I didn't want to mess anything up there," Ewers said. "... To me, it's not about the materialistic things of this world because it comes and goes. What's important to me is the relationships that are built along the way. And I didn't want to disrupt or rub anybody the wrong way, being selfish and trying to go get money from another team, because I was a lifelong Longhorn. "Growing up, I wanted to play there. Ended up being the quarterback there, living on my dreams. My 10-year-old self wouldn't transfer away and go somewhere else. So, at the end of the day, that was the right decision for me." ESPN.comEwers: Chose NFL over portal to cement UT tiesDolphins quarterback Quinn Ewers said he chose the NFL over lucrative offers for a final college season in order to preserve his relationships at Texas.

agreed. all things being equal, i'd prefer he stayed, but this isn't a major loss or anything like that.

Sterlin Harjo’s new show ‘The Lowdown’ coming to FX
i binged this over the past few nights and really enjoyed it, particularly the second half of the season when the overall story arch really started to come in to focus. thought there was some good musings on the the value/futility of caring and trying to get involved in things and make them "right" vs. just looking out for you and yours. it was very funny at times, edge of your seat at others, a fun hangout at others, and poignant with something to say at others. I hadn't really considered the posibility of a second season until reading this thread as it felt more like a limited series type of show, but if they could find another compelling story to tell with Lee Raybon that had nothing to do with the Washburns or Nazi Churches, they've certainly created a world that is compelling and characters that are fun to spend time watching.
