2026 Midterms ...
Oh, watch out if you are in CD 17. Do some research on J Gordon Mitchell. Also if you are in Ft Bend, please cast a vote for Eddie Sajjad for County Judge. Bright, energetic and patriotic as hell.

2026 Midterms ...
https://progresstexas.org/blog/progress-texas-endorsements-march-primaries-0 Texas Progressive CaucusEndorsementsLearn more about the endorsements from the Texas Progressive Caucus. Here's what I am doing statewide: Governor Gina Hinojosa gets the nod mainly because of her time spent in the State House. She, Talarico, Goodwin and John Bryant led the fight against vouchers. She does well in the big blue metroplexes and her father is the past TDP chair and has always been strong in the Valley. Bobby Cole is the salt of the earth kind of guy and he would do well in the rural areas, but we know Dems and rural. Still I like him and hope he runs again in the future. Lt Governor Vicki Goodwin might not be most charasmatic candidate ever, but what she lacks in flash she more than makes up in brains. Her campaign started spring before last, and she's been traveling the state since then. Her campaign also put together a grant program small county chairs to fund things they feel will work in their county. She also did a weekly Zoom with the candidates running for the state House back in 24. She's in it for the people of Texas and is working hard to talk to as many as possible. Comptroller Michael Lange knows business and also knows politics. He is looking to step down from his successful business to work for the people of Texas. I know this guy well. I have travelled with him several times to appearances. He knows business, water and water rights and how to get the best out of the Comptroller's Office to serve all Texans, not just the wealthy. Land Commissioner That one is a toss up between Loya and Flores. Ag Commissioner Clayton Tucker is the anti Sid Miller, bright and young. Railroad Commission Jon Rosenthal has served in the State house and graduated from UT with a ME in 91. He's got O&G experience as well. Senator Talarico. VOTE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BALLOT. The TDP has been fighting this negativity since we put in the new Chair, Kendall Scudder. We are making some great changes and working to drag the rest of the country along with us into redifining and re-igniting the national party. I can't argue with the NYT here. I get angry when I see some of the crap that comes out of DC...along with the concept of how many very elderly people we have representing us. Watch this year for a much different approach to the November election.

Political Cartoons - The Politics Thread.
Used to be that way. Ben Franklin organized one in Philly. So many arsons between competing companies drove the establishment of the first departments paid by the communities. It was called democratic socialism.

Texas -- a failed state
It is the way for election administrators to determine if someone still receives mail at their voter registered mailing address (which can be different from their physical address). If the EA sends out a card and it get's sent back as undeliverable, then that voter's registration is put under "suspense." If someone under suspense shows up to vote, they can still vote. If they have proof of residence still within that county, they can update their address and vote normally. If they do not have such proof, they can vote a provisional ballot and will have 7 days to return with the required proof. If they have moved to another county but did not register in the new county, they have to re-register and can only vote in elections held 30 days or more after their registration was accepted. Accepted means processed here, not just the date it was received by the EA.

2026 Midterms ...
You informally register by choosing a blue or red ballot. You can't vote cross ballot in primaries like you can the general. of course, but they want people all the way down to Bugtussle to think every polling place will be crawling with ICE.
-
2026 Midterms ...
There are 94,000 polling places in the US. There are at best 30,000 ICE agents. Considering that due to their cowardice, they operate in teams of 4 or more, that means that less than 1/3 of the polls will be covered. And to surround and intimidate a polling location that has 100+ voters inline would be difficult at best with 4 agents. This is all sword rattling going on to keep voters fearful of showing up. JT's strength when you meet him isn't his humor but his untethered empathy. You don't feel he wants anything from you, nor is he judging you. He comes across to me like Pope Francis, in that he can stick to his principals as a Christian, but also understands the world is changing, and his ethos should be fluid to match those changes. That is hard to come across on a commercial or interview, but it's something in person that is very genuine. That is Kat Wall. She's trying to primary Angelia Orr, the Trump endorsed incumbent. At least 2 of the counties in that district have censured Orr in favor of Wall. So yeah, welcome to my horror. While it does come across as dull and old, it's not Dukakis in a tank either, and it's not Beto "coming to get your guns!" Being dull and old is much easier to recover from. But your point is well taken. That's me. I talked to his head scheduler last night in Conroe, and they really like the idea...then you can ask him why is ads have a use by date from the early oughts.

Texas -- a failed state
I just know that Hinojosa is well respected by her peers in the Capitol, and with her family being from the Valley, that might help. She's a good candidate. Electable over Abbott? Doubtful. However, with Jasmine coming into the Senate race, it has brought national attention to that race. If TJ wins the primary, then I feel a good amount of the republican voters will stay home, having successfully dodged the evil Crockett. Saw a Huffines billboard outside Conroe yesterday. "Expose Government Corruption!" Oh? the corruption your party has saddled us with for over 30 years? The unions in Texas are a difficulty we have to deal with as Dems. Even when the AFL-CIO endorsed Harris in Texas, the rank and file of the union voted more for Ttrump. Meaning the union endorsement doesn't mean what it used to here in Texas. The teamsters seem to have fallen for Abbott's promises. Endorsing him for a seat at his table seems like a surrender of sorts. And at a pretty crappy time too.

If you guys want, Talarico sometime back said he'd be willing to do a virtual meeting with us....up to you. After the primaries I can probably get most of the statewides to visit us.

2026 Midterms ...
Allred is still butthurt over knowing that he didn't stand a chance against either Talarico or Crockett. I think his plan was to back Jasmine into the Senate and then follow on her coat tails when Cruz comes due again. He got mad because he is afraid donors will start to see what others see and his fount of funds will dry up. Y'all might not know but poltical donors can legitimately ask for refunds. Could be he's somehow trying to minimize that damage? I'd love for Talarico and eventually Gutierrez to be Texas Senators together. Gutierrez has turned down the profanity quite a bit, guess we will see. Crockett needs to run for Governor or Atty General here in Texas, at least that's my preference. In the meantime I will settle for Jaworski as AG.

Yup, the Sash Riley stuff needs its own thread
The only thing that makes me think there could be an grain of truth to this is the idea of Trump having something on Graham and possibly Jordan.

Yup, the Sash Riley stuff needs its own thread
What fascinates me is that Trump and his bumbling idiots can actually cover something up with this many parts. That is one reason I feel it deserves wide berth when it comes to accepting it as factual. On the other hand, there's been a shit ton of stuff buried in other arenas, so it is doable, just not by Trump and Assoc. It also leads me to believe that the truth will surface, much like the redacted words in the last batch of files.

Texas WBB 2025-26: Return to the Final Four
Mulkey must make some deal with the refs that if they start calling against her team, she'll go and wipe her makeup off. Not only then would they have to listen to ugly they have to look at her, like some Medusa.

Landman
So I had to go back and watch part of 6 over, then 7 to try to understand why the rig wasn't running. Geologist dude said he wasn't leaving for 3 days until the well came online. But all the hands are prepping for a low riders parade, like rigs normally run M-F 8-5 schedules. Good thing they are making so much money, since they decide to rest their rigs about 60 hours out of a 168 hour available hours a week. About as dumb as the backwards wrench stuff mentioned above.

Jeffrey Epstein needs his own thread
They ran all their credit cards to the max on MAGA crap. It's just that America hasn't gotten quite great enough to pay down those cards, much less pay them off. I haven't noticed as many roadside stands filled with cheap Chinese merchandise though, be it Trump or just generic white authoritarian messaging.

Trump’s America
Thing is even with her little story problem, she did it wrong. going from 10 to 6 in her world should be a %400 drop. A %600 drop would be from 10 down to 4.

Trump’s America
Triple D beat me to it. Tell me you aren't wishcasting what a book actually says, instead of, I dunno, actually reading the book. After all this is over (I know, I know) I would assume Trump and his cronies will be put on trial. Can American re-coup any of the ill gotten gains he has made through civil cases? LIke make him pay for rebuilding the East wing, seizing emoluments, even if he has hidden them in shell corps or given them to his heirs someway. Maybe take all his bitcoin scams and start a HBCU endowment? Turn every Trump property into a homeless shelter or halfway house? It just pisses the hell out of me to know how many crooked ass people are benefitting from toadying for this guy, running scams and deals to enrich themselves to the expense of our foundering middle and lower classes.

We're the Cheeziest party at Immamac's House Dec 31 2025 - Texas VS Michigan
I concocted some decent Chex/Cheezit mix yesterday. The proportions can be changed, since I didn't exacly measure things. I mean I just poured stuff out of the boxes, so these qtys are guesstimates. 3 cups corn chex 2 cups rice chex 2 cups white cheezits (you could probably use orange) 1-2 cups whole pecans 1/2 cup pepitas (roasted and shelled pumpkin seed) 1/2 cup raisins Mix all the above in a big roaster, not a slow cooker Melt 3 sticks of butter add in 1/4 - 1/3 cup brown sugar about a 1/4 tsp apple pie spice. Roast at 250 for an hour, stirring every qtr hour. You can add more chex mix if it seems there's too much liquid, and as you cook the chex will absorb it and the cheezits will get coated. If you use a slow cooker, it steams it too much and things come out soggy. Found that out the hard way on some other mix I made.
