  1. Have to wonder if she's beginning to question that stance of not taking any corporate donations, but only grassroots. I would think there would be at least a few decent moral corporations out there, right?
  2. She might have said it to get the clicks.

But then there are a lot of nice guys who post in here who have fathers that are big MAGA types. There might be a reason the guy is in SF instead of Austin.

Lina is a good suggestion. Hinojosa started as a judge.

At that stage it's not about the money, it's about the power high. Think Trading Places. Bexar County came dangerously close to this process too. Cannot imagine the clusterfuck that would have been. The votes have to be counted by a certain number of hours after the polls close, 24 I think. Not sure what happens if they don't. This whole hand count never made much sense, since they could only force counties to hand count in the primaries, not the general. Maybe they figured if they could catch enough irregularities in the primaries they could force some sort of change? This.

That's good. He was targeted hard by the Red money in hopes to unseat him.

Each county has some discretion on how they set up their poll sites. Stassney is right about having to declare which primary you want to vote in. My county has a card on the table by the poll book and you can either state what party you choose or simply point. So while verbal commitment isn't required, some sort of commitment is. I think the larger counties will set up the tables for different parties and assign quantity of machines per party at that site according to the historical split of voters in that precinct. The number of machines available in that fashion often discourage voting due to overly long lines (this is one reason there aren't propositions on the Dem ballots, to speed up the process). But many smaller counties just have one check in table and all the rest of the machinery is shared. And all of those details are spelled out in a joint contract between the two parties and the county Election administration.

Blue Voter Guide. It will show you all the candidates in your ZIP and link them to Ballotpedia. But sadly not to their websites. League of Women Voters of Texas Guide Progress Texas Endorsements

I think the TDL hassle is partly driven by the immigration red herrings. But in the past there has been reason to suspect that either by plan or glitch DPS was not getting the updated data into the county clerks in a timely manner, if ever.

Here's a good chart of who is endorsing whom. These two Republicans endorsed in dozens of Texas House races. One put his money where his mouth is. | KUT Radio, Austin's NPR Station True, but something doesn't ring true with that. Her partner is Olivia Jordan, and looks somewhat similar to Ogg. Your voter ID card is no longer used for identification purposes for voting. It continues to play a role in advising someone that they are still registered, and what precincts and districts they are in. They also serve the County Election Administration when they are sent back and undeliverable at that address. That is the main way voters are put on suspension and eventually cleared from the rolls. Texas Driver's licenses are used to verify the voter now, or another form of ID, which is pretty limited. ( https://www.votetexas.gov/docs/sos-voter-ed-8-5x11-eng.pdf) They use it mainly for facial identification, and the address on your DL doesn't come into play. So Jordan would have had to actually use Ogg's photo ID to vote as her. She does look a bit like her, and then also sign off on the fact that she was indeed Kim Ogg. I would imagine the poll book would have proof of what ID was used.

Kim Ogg playing games in Houston. I wouldn't doubt this wasn't done deliberately,

The idea we went from 0 picks two years ago to potentially 9 this year is incredible. And yes, Sark didn't recruit all of them, but his staff did develop them. And the fact that no one is shying away from Horns for being soft is another check for Sark and his change of culture.
  14. I'm probably late to the party on Brooklyn Nine Nine, but damn that show is funny.
  15. RG3 ahead of Colt is silly too. Anybody who played for Briles should have an asterik by their name when it comes to awards.
  16. More of Harmon's unique insight into everything UT related when it comes to football. This guy truly has it all figured out. He's pierced the veil of the BMOC. Not only should they pick the venue, but also the date of the game. Doesn't the TV contract have the most to do with date and time choice? And T'day isn't the "traditional" day for the game? What a maroon. https://gigemgazette.com/posts/why-aggie-football-playing-longhorns-thanksgiving-2024-bad-idea

They probably targeted you off your voting history and used your name and address to link you to another source that had name, address and phone.

This fool is on both the Dem and Rep primary ballot for this seat. He's done this before and they tried to pass some legislation to close that loophole, but the republicans were too busy writing suppression laws to pass something to fix something actually broken. The kicker is, if he wins one or the other, then he can't be in the general at all. Seems there is legislation for that. Just not enough to help out those running the primaries. Dr Ortiz is a good candidate though. She's an educator first and she is solid. But like most people in these races, they are getting into them as good people hoping to serve. They really have no idea the pit of vipers they have jumped into. I think Gutierrez is going to surprise some folks, particularly Allred. He's covered over 9,000 miles of Texas meeting people this campaign. And unlike Beto, he comes off as sincere, there's actual discussions, not just photo ops. Burch is the real deal. He's a third-generation driller and earlier served as an oilfield firefighter. He knows his stuff and is great at explaining it from old oil patch guys down to laypeople like me. He says he's the only Dem in the race, because his opponent is from somewhere on the east coast and has a history of voting/running republican. He also is traveling the state like Gutierrez. He does a lot of soc med stuff on IG, Threads, X. Thierry needs to go in a big way, Houston voters.
  20. I get them because I have had to use my phone number for all things doing with my mother, like medical, financial, etc. I don't opt out because once in a while I get one that is pushing a local event like when Abbott was on his way here to stump for vouchers the first go around. Gave us enough of a heads up to get together a little protest outside. Been getting a lot from Don Jr lately, which is kind of weird, since TFG is the one everyone worships. Also get a lot of red junk texts for my ex, who hasn't lived her since 2014 when she moved back to Canada. She was never a voting citizen anyway, so I keep her opted in, because now and then they waste money on junk mail to her. And yeah, Allred has no problem bomb texting us. But I think Beto was even worse. Still, Allred has time to win that aggravating race between now and Nov. Another reason I like Gutierrez.
  21. Thanks for the update. It's been years (obviously) since I discussed this with any Catholics.
