  1. Not a new guitar, but a new shirt purchased with rewards points from buying strings and accessories for my guitars. These shirts fit better than my other t-shirts. And given that I always wear an undershirt, this shirt gets put into the rotation because it is so comfortable.
  2. I pretended to be Geddy in high school along with Don Dokken, Stephen Pearcy, Juan Croucier, David Lee Roth, and more. I’ve given up on being EVH and George Lynch and DeMartini and Vai and Satch and EJ. But I’ll keep pushing anyway!
  3. My brother’s best friend in high school and early 20’s had a Rick like that in his bedroom. It had been his older brother’s guitar, and his older brother had left it when he went hiding from the Feds for tax evasion. I always screwed around with it when I got to tag along over to his house. Stop Dragging My Heart Around was in heavy rotation on Friday Night Videos at the time (our town didn’t have MTV yet due to heavy Baptist protest) and I could hold that guitar and pretend to be Tom Petty.
  4. One of the best shows I ever saw was them and Eric Gales Band in an old K-Mart at Tidwell and 59 in Houston. No seats. No light show to speak of. Just incredible heavy music with great harmonies and a crowd that was way into it. Smart phones and idiots blabbing would kill that vibe today.
  5. Are any of you really into guitar? I mean really really into guitar? Tell the world! Wear guitar string jewelry! I’m not much of a jewelry wearer since I broke my Van Halen necklace in high school, but those rings aren’t horrible. https://www.retunedjewelry.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoplMVBJwG4LN-Dwm3W5OlnQoo_d6DYeel3JuJJ5_d9wWc3veWLw
  6. I love that song. Very simple but just beautiful.
  7. My son was in band high school. They had a “chamber night” each spring where the students got to perform solo pieces they chose or duos, trios, quartets, ensembles, a couple even sang since they found that talent as well. Two of the seniors got up and performed this song with a Uke and a tin whistle covering the vocals. It brought the house down. You wouldn’t think four strings and a whistle could be so moving, but it was great.
  8. Sarah McLachlan was on recently and I swore she was Jane Krakowski. They look very similar now.
  9. II’ve sold a couple of acoustics, golf clubs, lawn equipment, and some other various stuff. If there is any question about the buyer, I have them meet me in the parking lot of a police station. If they aren’t ok with that location, the deal is off. List the stuff here first. It’s more of a closed community. After that, you could do Reverb or Sweetwater Gear Garage with local pickup only. Or you can do FB Marketplace. If you try GC they won’t give you what a private buyer will give you but you will get some cash and be less the gear, which is the goal. Phil McKnight made a video of his dealings with GC selling them a cheap guitar. It was interesting.
  10. My brother got me a $100 gift card to GC a few years back. He forgot about Sweetwater. No big deal. I found a $70 Squire that had a really nice feeling neck but had been dropped. Had a couple of chunks taken out of the finish. I replaced the trem on it. Had to drill some new holes for that. Took it to my retired woodworker neighbor to use his drill press and he grabbed and hand drill and said “I got it”. He did, too. Then he used his orbital sander to smooth out that cracked chunk of finish down to the wood. It’s got a heavy relic look in a couple spots. I want to widen the tuning key holes and put new tuners in it, and I bought a loaded pick guard off of StewMac to throw in there. Haven’t done that yet either. Also going to level frets and polish and round fret edges and I bought all the tools for that. Time is the thing. There isn’t enough.
  11. If it helps, I have a $70 Squire I bought so I could learn how to mod a bit. I’ve barely touched it.
  12. I sold my Takamine acoustic and my Yamaha acoustic. I liked both guitars. The Yamaha played better and sounded better but once I got my PRS Lifeson acoustic I didn’t play the others enough. Couldn’t justify the space or the fact that I could let someone else make them sing while getting some cash to go towards an amp or pedal for my electric. So 99% of the board? :)
  13. immamac is going to put that on the banner at the top
  14. I got to see Cliff live in a club on the Ride The Lightning Tour and every Metallica fan I know curses me for that fact.
