That 1962 Epi Sorrento reissue has Gibson minibuckers. They do sound really good.

Here's some Friday porn. We are finally starting trying to liquidate my friends guitar collection. We need to come up with a price for this one and a few old parlor guitars from the 30's to get it started.

I get what they're going for.  And it says "compensated rosewood bridge."  But man, I'm traumatized by the look of it.  Too much like the original pos Dano bridge.

Forgive me Surly, for I have sinned.  It has been seven years since my last guitar-purchase confession.  I coveted a guitar I have lusted after for many years.  I succumbed to to 0% financing and will pay $40 per month for a relatively short period of time.  In penance, I shall perform 20 rock-god stances and 15 guitar faces ever day.  I will light candles and incense.  I will howl at the moon.  Amen.

Well this will put me at 9 electrics in house.  So, while I may be a slouch, I'm no tremendous slouch.

That’s a dope axe.

Whadda they whack you for on something like that?

List is $1,799.  While I was browsing, SW rep called and knocked off $150.  The lowest price used I found was $1,200 plus $75 shipping.  So I could have saved some $$ with some patience and haggling, but $40 per month is less than a family trip to Whataburger.  I'll pay more than that and get it off the books quickly, but at 0%, I have a hard time turning down free money.  Plus, I'll get a good setup and some candy out of the deal.

For comparison's sake, these were $1,200 new a few years ago.  That's what I get for waiting.

Also, I had two to choose from.  I went with 4 oz. heavier (8 lbs 14 oz) just to get the darker fret board.  Priorities.  My Les Paul Traditional weighs in at well over 10 lbs (doesn't feel that heavy when playing).  So I ain't a scared.

I really want a p90 guitar. Damn you.

I had a gold-top Epiphone Casino several years ago that I just couldn't get along with.  So I sold it.  I felt like I'd really like the P90s in a solid body guitar.  That Casino just played like a damned cigar box 90% of the time.  The only time I really liked it was when I was playing it through a cranked Bassman.  But everything sounds good through a cranked Bassman.  So this is my return to the the P90 realm.

This right here should be everyone's take away:  Don't wait to buy that new guitar.  Do it now.

Just in time for Christmas — the perfect gift for the guitar player who has everything but fretboard knowledge…

Is that the little 335? I feel like someone mentioned having one of those, but I may be remembering some long ago discussion on a different board.

Yes.  It's close to the 335, but it's less bulky.

More Les Paul sized than 335 as far as body dimensions.  I’ve played a couple, never owned one.

I remember seeing these advertised in guitar mags back in the late 80s/early 90s.

This.  It's essentially a shrunken 335.  I've also played them on occasion and they seem like a great move for someone who finds 335s too big.  I've seen lots of jazzers play them and get nice semi-hollow/hollowbody tones out of them.

I miss guitar magazines. Was always my go to for a plane flight. Whatever guitar magazines they had at the airport bookstore.

They're still there on the shelves, though I rarely buy them.

I have a ton of them in my music room closet.  I almost never go to them for info anymore.  I use Ultimate Guitar for tabs these days.  Yet there are probably half a dozen I'll never ever get rid of, like the one that has "Sultans of Swing" AND "I Can't Quit You Babe (live)" in it.  That was like 16 year old Chad's biggest guitar mag score.

Man, brings back some memories.  Like, I wish my mom hadn't found my stash and got rid of the 91/92 Playboy collection.  Sigh.

Can we all just agree that if you mention your guitar, even if we've seen it before, you need to post an updated pic for reasons?

I think CS 336 is the same size as a 339.

A decade ago, I came across one on Reverb ("came across" = extensive hours searching for gear).  It had P90's and was a really good price.  I wish I'd pulled the trigger.

I've said before:  If I had to play only one guitar/amp combo, it would be semi-hollow with P90 through a Vox-flavored amp.

Anyway, if you're looking for a smaller 335, add CS 336 to your search.

It's a bit like the old saying "on your deathbed, you'll never regret travel taken".  In this case, "on your deathbed, you'll never regret buying that guitar".

And for the record, it’s not possible to overdose on guitars.

Maybe, but I want to test the theory just to make sure. You know, for science.
