Maybe it was, or maybe it was the OG?

You’re right, probably the OG. I just know I want one.

He's pretty open about his gear, and he claims that he plays the replica in some shows.

He's got a red-eye replica too, and he often plays that, but red-eye is worth a fucking fortune.

Did he buy the Ed King LP?  I'm sure I saw that somewhere.  Probably here.

All of the reviews I've seen keep saying what a great guitar this is.

I’m not usually an artist model guitar kind of guy. But if I had my own branded tele it would be exactly that. Might have to jump on one of these.

I'd love a non-relic version

I’ve been kinda thinking of replacing my tele at some point. The one i have is fine but isn’t special. I might get curious. The Isbell one doesn’t have a big dumb signature on it somewhere does it?

The video I watched says no signature on it.

Interesting vid hulla linked. Worth a watch if you are interested in this guitar. Which I am.

Also what do I have to plug this thing into to get it to sound like that video. Or Jason’s video. Daaaaaaamn.

here's your answer (the video starts at the correct time)

I've always had two nevers when it came to teles: no sunburst and no bound bodies.  But I must say, that's a damned good looking tele.

I don't mind the sunburst, but I'm with you on binding.  That said, I agree -- it's a good looking guitar.

I like it on Strats and Les Pauls, but for some reason, I prefer solid colors on Teles.

Weird. My 2nd favorite looking electric guitar of all time is a bound sunburst tele. True story.

Yeah.  I'm not trying to start a movement or anything.  But I likes what I likes.  Still, that one above is Mi-T-Fine

If I have any quibble with that guitar, it's that I'm not a fan of black pick guards over sunbursts.  But that's like a "which is better? Chocolate or vanilla?" kind of argument.

I'm starting to think a black oyster pickguard on a black Tele would look 100% kickass.

That looks great.  All I'm saying is I prefer this look:

A double-bound pastel 60's Tele is one of the most beautiful guitars in the world.

Sweetwater has 150 bucks of select Fender Teles and Strats plus an extra 10% off of that price at the moment.

Freddie was the best of the Kings. Fight me.

The Isbell Tele is 20% off at Music Zoo. Actually, all the artist guitars are 20% off. Code: Artist20.

I need to sell our snoo start my new job and sell my old telecaster. I’m talking myself into this. Might need to find it locally though, this might be a covert buy.

also lol on the pan to the crowd @4:53

Strong to very strong, but not everyone call pull off that collar. Very few in fact

I'm tempted to report that video.  No one wants to see someone getting their throat ripped out by a seagull.

Wondering what a “snoo” is.

I may be in the market for a snoo.

EDIT- if this is a “snoo”, I am not in the market.

I can do $500, surly special

I’m in one of those phases where I can’t get a good sound out of anything. I probably need a new guitar.

And a new amp, just to be safe.

It really is absurd that I don’t have a good traditional Strat. I have an American HH that I’ve had since the 90s, and I have the Squier that I picked up on one of those Fender fire sales for next to nothing but it’s not as easy to play as the HH. Out of seven electrics it’s the only one with single coils, and yet nearly all the big Strat players are my heroes and influences.

Every time I really think about getting one I get into analysis paralysis.

Wanna buy my 1999 Fender American Vintage 1957 spec?  I would be willing to make you a Surly friends deal.  It’s a killer example of a vintage spec strat.  Made in the USA, Nitro, glassy 57/62 pups, etc…. Offer is open to anyone here.

This was recorded with it if you want to know what it sounds like.

That’s pretty cool, but for whatever reason I don’t love that color combo.

57/62's are the best Strat pups, IMO.
