The BUT is a terrific venue.  See you there?

Maybe so. I saw a few shows there a while back when I had a condo in Del Mar. Def terrific venue.

Pulled the trigger on a 2015 Collings om2h esb today. I’ll post pics when she arrives.

Never seen a Collings or that model?  Collings is a super respected Austin-area small manufacturer.  Very high end.

Looks like a … Collings in the OOO size with rosewood back/sides? I like the burst - almost more of a vignette than a burst.

I’m done. I can’t imagine a finer guitar.

That’s a beautiful guitar, but let’s keep the crazy talk to a minimum.

Username checks out.

Saw some great guitar gear at the Jeff Tweedy show the other night.  Got my curiosity aroused (see the Concerts thread).

First Sima Cunningham got some really nice tones out of one of these bad boys.  Essentially a scaled down ES-175 (though judging from Reverb, somehow on a par in price?).

Then Jeff played one of these, which is just crazy to look at.

Neg for Jeff Tweedy?  Your only taste is in your mouth.

bananas to have not heard of collings, although I suppose i'm fairly guitar obsessed. I'd describe Collings as the most prominent boutique acoustic brand, if it is still considered boutique. I'm not a historian of the brand but my understanding is that they are very high quality and mostly in the Martin tradition. I don't think I've played one, although I did try a few Waterloos (made by Collings) when I was convinced I needed a parlor.

High school band mate has a Collings single cut that is one of the most beautiful guitars I’ve ever seen.

Charlie Sexton has a signature model Collings.  Pretty cool.

I'm just an ignorant asshole, I suppose.  I've never seen one in a store, I don't recall seeing anyone playing one.  Hell, I've never noticed one on Reverb for that matter.

But, I agree that they look fantastic.

Collings are like a restaurant with no website and no sign and off the beaten path and no prices on the menu, the dining room has five tables, and the food is incredible and you only know about due to word of mouth.

Holy cow.  I bid on some of Les Paul's sound panels back during the LP auction.  Looks like I lost out to Joe Walsh.  No wonder I couldn't compete.

If I knew his size, I'd bid on some of his 70's stage wear.

5'10" and kinda pudgy.

Click on whatever you like and find out. The sizes are there.

The Texas jersey is a find.

i have no idea if it is just early days or something but if those bassman amps stay where they are, i would fully expect @dcbc to start making his moves.

They will not.  If it's anything like the Les Paul auction, they will go for amounts that do not reflect the reality of what they are.  Rather, they will go sky high for the opportunity to twist the same knobs as their hero Joe.  I'm going to sign up anyhow though.  Where there's life, there's hope.

The 1968 drip edge AB165 is intriguing but already is at the top of what I'd ever want to pay for it.  But I'm eyeballing that hat and those flared pants. ;)

/signed 5'10" and definitely chubby

What's it at right now? I haven't looked in a couple days. I'm honestly going to make a run at some of the clothes.

$900.  I'm honestly not a huge fan of the piggyback Bassman tones.  Yes, you can make some nice, heavy rock sounds come out of them, but they're a bit nasally most of the time.

They were cool things to grab when you could get them for under $500, but those days have been long gone for a while.

How different is the Marshall Bluesbreaker when compared to a Bassman?  I think they have similar circuits.

The Bluesbreaker is going to break up earlier and has a better natural distortion than the Bassman. Just my opinion.

I had a reissue circa late 90s -- you might have played it -- I was never over the moon about it.
