December 5Dec 5 Here's some Friday porn. We are finally starting trying to liquidate my friends guitar collection. We need to come up with a price for this one and a few old parlor guitars from the 30's to get it started. Edited December 5Dec 5 by AnotherUTFan

December 10Dec 10 Popular Post Forgive me Surly, for I have sinned. It has been seven years since my last guitar-purchase confession. I coveted a guitar I have lusted after for many years. I succumbed to to 0% financing and will pay $40 per month for a relatively short period of time. In penance, I shall perform 20 rock-god stances and 15 guitar faces ever day. I will light candles and incense. I will howl at the moon. Amen. Edited December 10Dec 10 by dcbc

The lowest price used I found was $1,200 plus $75 shipping. So I could have saved some $$ with some patience and haggling, but $40 per month is less than a family trip to Whataburger. I'll pay more than that and get it off the books quickly, but at 0%, I have a hard time turning down free money. Plus, I'll get a good setup and some candy out of the deal. For comparison's sake, these were $1,200 new a few years ago. That's what I get for waiting. Also, I had two to choose from. I went with 4 oz. heavier (8 lbs 14 oz) just to get the darker fret board. Priorities. My Les Paul Traditional weighs in at well over 10 lbs (doesn't feel that heavy when playing). So I ain't a scared. Edited December 10Dec 10 by dcbc

I felt like I'd really like the P90s in a solid body guitar. That Casino just played like a damned cigar box 90% of the time. The only time I really liked it was when I was playing it through a cranked Bassman. But everything sounds good through a cranked Bassman. So this is my return to the the P90 realm.

December 11Dec 11 More Les Paul sized than 335 as far as body dimensions. I’ve played a couple, never owned one.

I've also played them on occasion and they seem like a great move for someone who finds 335s too big. I've seen lots of jazzers play them and get nice semi-hollow/hollowbody tones out of them.
December 11Dec 11 I miss guitar magazines. Was always my go to for a plane flight. Whatever guitar magazines they had at the airport bookstore.

They're still there on the shelves, though I rarely buy them. I have a ton of them in my music room closet. I almost never go to them for info anymore. I use Ultimate Guitar for tabs these days. Yet there are probably half a dozen I'll never ever get rid of, like the one that has "Sultans of Swing" AND "I Can't Quit You Babe (live)" in it. That was like 16 year old Chad's biggest guitar mag score. Man, brings back some memories. Like, I wish my mom hadn't found my stash and got rid of the 91/92 Playboy collection. Sigh.

A decade ago, I came across one on Reverb ("came across" = extensive hours searching for gear). It had P90's and was a really good price. I wish I'd pulled the trigger. I've said before: If I had to play only one guitar/amp combo, it would be semi-hollow with P90 through a Vox-flavored amp. Anyway, if you're looking for a smaller 335, add CS 336 to your search.

In this case, "on your deathbed, you'll never regret buying that guitar".
