Man, Herman is going to take Texas back to the mecca of football facilities.  Every school used to envy our fucking facilities.  Then some where along the lines every one in the administration got content and stopped trying from DeLoss to Mack.  So refreshing to have Del Conte and Herman.  I expect us to be second to none very soon.

E.J. Holland: Four-star DB Xavion Alford to take in Texas practice this week

Xavion Alford is making yet another visit to Texas. The four-star defensive back out of Shadow Creek informed Horns247 that he would take in a UT spring practice on Thursday. Alford visited Texas twice in February, and the Longhorns are surging in his recruitment. Along with Texas, Alford is also high on regional programs like LSU and Texas A&M. At 6-foot-1, 181 pounds, Alford is ranked as the No. 13 safety and No. 190 overall prospect in the country, per 247Sports Composite.

E.J. Holland: Five-star RB Bijan Robinson locks in visit to Texas

Bijan Robinson is making his way to Austin soon. The five-star running back out of Salpointe Catholic (AZ) informed Horns247 that he has set an unofficial visit to Texas for April 12. Robinson said Texas is a major player in his recruitment early and is looking forward to meeting the staff and checking out the campus. Along with Texas, Robinson is high on schools like Ohio State, Oklahoma and UCLA. At 6-foot, 200 pounds, Robinson is ranked as the No. 5 running back and No. 26 overall recruit, per 247Sports Composite.

Fuck EJ.

Love Bijan, Evans, Ty & the GA RB. Two of those would make me forgive Drayton for not being the rainmaker I expected.

If he gets two of those, he WOULD be the rainmaker you expected.

It says Alford is visiting for a Thursday practice, thought they practiced on Mon-Wed-Fri or is it Tues-Thurs?

We ain't gettin two of those. One of them plus an actual RB2 would still be a great result.

E.J. Holland: Texas recruiting tidbits from Adidas West Coast

— Five-star California wide receiver Johnny Wilson is still planning to visit Texas soon but does not have an exact date. Wilson knows it will be before the end of spring. He actually had a great conversation with wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer a couple of days ago, and the two are building a strong relationship. Texas has a really, really good shot here. It’s all about getting him on campus.

— Five-star California linebacker Justin Flowe is looking to make an unofficial visit to Texas in a couple of weeks. Texas has been surging for Flowe due to his interest in playing football down South and the Longhorns’ track record on the West Coast. Flowe has a great relationship with the staff and can really envision himself in Austin. Like Wilson, it’s all about getting him to campus.

— Five-star Arizona cornerback Kelee Ringo has been to Texas twice already and plans to be in Austin at least two more times before his recruitment is over. Ringo talked highly about his ties to the program as well as cornerbacks coach Jason Washington. He will see Oklahoma next and is still planning out his spring visit schedule.

— Five-star Washington linebacker Sav’ell Smalls told me that he is building a really strong relationship with defensive coordinator Todd Orlando. Smalls said he really likes what Orlando brings to the table as a coach and wants to sit down and pick his brain soon. As we’ve previously reported, Smalls is looking to visit Texas this spring.

— Five-star Arizona running back Bijan Robinson has locked in his unofficial visit to Texas for April 12, which means he will take in the Longhorns’ spring game that weekend. Robinson is wide open in his recruitment and is excited about getting his first look at the program and facilities.

— Elite Arizona defensive back Lathan Ransom is not sure if he will join Robinson on his trip to Austin, but he is looking to make an unofficial visit before the end of spring. Ransom added that Texas is very much in play to receive an official visit as well. Ransom had a ton of positive things to say about safeties coach Craig Naivar.

— JT Tuimoloau, the nation’s top 2021 recruit, recently notched an offer from the Longhorns. Tuimoloau, who hails from Washington, told me he has some interest in Texas and is familiar with the program’s tradition. Tuimoloau is taking the process extremely slow and wants to evaluate all of his options.

— Fellow Washington natives and four-star recruits Sam Adams II and DJ Rogers are both intrigued by Texas and want to make a visit in the near future. Adams, whose father is from the Lone Star State, said his next two visits will be to Texas and Texas A&M. Rogers wants to visit this spring as well.

— Four-star athlete Mookie Cooper recently backed out of his verbal pledge to the Longhorns. So does Texas still have a shot here? Cooper told me that UT is still very much in the mix. He wants to take his time with the process and isn’t going to make a new decision until after his senior season.

— Four-star defensive back Xavion Alford will be back on campus this week for an unofficial visit. Alford has visited Texas more than any other program this offseason, and the Longhorns are certainly trending in the right direction here. Alford loves the program and the coaching staff.

— Four-star defensive back Dwight McGlothern visited Texas for junior day and returned to Austin for another unofficial visit. McGlothern said he had plenty of fun on the Forty Acres and reiterated that Texas is one of his top schools. This has been a bit of a whirlwind of a recruitment early on, so it’s tough to gauge exactly where Texas and McGlothern stand.

— Fast-rising defensive back Joshua Eaton said he loved both of his recent trips to Texas and made it clear that the Longhorns are definitely a top school. We felt very good about Texas landing Eaton, but Texas A&M recently offered and has asserted itself in this recruitment as well. It’s tough to see him landing anywhere but those two schools.

How are we handling the McGlothern recruitment? Are we letting him visit but not actually putting any faith in signing him?

Knowing uncle 3stripeRO is pulling the strings, I hope some oos gets him to commit early. Nebraska where you'at?

If that's the case, you would think that he'd be committed to A&M by now.

That is not how you drive the bagman market when you are not elite at your position. Visit, visit and visit some more..create fauxmentum like his self interview videos. Good luck to him.

Wilson does not show what I expected based on EJ's "evaluations", I like that we continue to look for talent and offer at WR.

E.J. Holland: Texas offers elite 2020 Missouri WR Jordan Johnson

Texas is looking to add more more talented underclassmen. Four-star DeSmet (MO) wide receiver Jordan Johnson notched an offer from the Longhorns on Sunday night.  Along with Texas, Johnson holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Wisconsin and several other major programs.  Texas wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer, last year's Big 12 Recruiter of the Year, is recruiting Johnson.

Notre Dame holds 100 percent of Crystal Ball predictions, but just two experts have made picks.  Texas has had success recruiting in Missouri in the past, landing linebacker Ayodele Adeoye a couple of cycles ago and four-star wide receiver Marcus Washington last cycle. Texas also held a commitment from Missouri athlete Mookie Cooper this cycle, but he backed out of his verbal pledge late last week.

Johnson is slated to announce his decision on July 28 of this year. Johnson spent the weekend in Los Angeles playing 7v7 with fellow Texas targets Xavion Alford, Joshua Eaton and Dwight McGlothern on Fast Houston.  At 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, Johnson is ranked as the No. 6 wide receiver and No. 34 overall recruit in the country, per 247Sports Composite.

That isn't the best rep to show. The ball was very late and Wilson slowed down once it wasn't coming when he expected it.

He's got great hands, and a crazy wingspan. His thick legs will only help him get better position on 50-50 balls

We look good for a Ro DB that we're actually pursuing this cycle - Alford. We'll see how it shakes out.

This is all true, but what bugged me was the multiple, slow stutter steps when encountering press coverage. That isn't how you do it.

Bryson Washington too I believe (although he joined Ro recently IIRC)
