I may actually have to go listen to it - live at Alabama is still my favorite Isbell album but that other one shouldn’t have been released. this keeps showing up in my Spotify and I like it. Love the kinda rhythmic theme that shows up in the prechorus and second half of the chorus.

September 26, 20241 yr Damn her voice is so sweet and pure. She doesn't lose the accent, but it's never affected. She's astonishing.
September 26, 20241 yr Sturgill got added to nugs. Doesn’t do it justice. Most shows are boring as hell. Literally all of the mmj shows are electric. Something about the Sturgill shows are lacking the heat they put down.

September 26, 20241 yr I listened to a few clips and the quality was not good. Especially compared to other bands on there. My YouTube rip of the outside lands set sounds better.
September 26, 20241 yr I guess this could go here . . . I'm always late to the party . . . the band Wednesday? Nice simple recording, love the lyrics, a very slight Kasey Musgraves hint to her voice and a bit of that North Carolina "we don't know if we're country or indie rock" vibe a la Whiskeytown. September 27, 20241 yr Once read a review that said, "Sometimes she sings like she is in love with her own voice, but who could blame her" Another said, "She sings like an angel with hell-scorched wings" Saw her perform at Blue Rock in Wimberley earlier this year. Damn good show. She put out an EP with a group that I’ll have to google to find, but she sings lead on a cover.

I was listening to this and wishing it was a bit more punk rock, so I found the album and yeah track one gets me there. this one is similar to me in that I want to post it in this thread but I’m not sure why exactly and it probably doesn’t fit. This one kinda does… and I think Isbell liked or commented or something which made me dig into the artist a bit more. But this one doesn’t really fit yet is the one I want to share. and learn that little riff on guitar
September 28, 20241 yr That little lick on "Eye On The Bat" is awesome. I'm getting a tiny Aimee Mann vibe from that one. Totally belongs here, hell, the 3 artists in the thread title are all over the map, anyway.

October 1, 20241 yr Appropriate for this thread -- my wife was just playing a Kasey Chambers station on Pandora. I need to listen to more Kasey, she kinda fell off my radar for a while. I got to see her several times, once upstairs on 6th Street where there were maybe 30 people there. Hearing her voice up close is pretty mind-blowing. Edited October 1, 20241 yr by jimmyjazz

Yeah they've added some over the years but it's still pretty rough trying to get a room on most game days. This thing is gonna be insane.

October 3, 20241 yr Added a second date on the 11th. Only difference is Mike Mcure band on 11th and TGD on 12th.In other related news, appears Bleu Edmondson is back in the studio for the first time in almost a decade. Think it’s been even longer than that since he played any shows. Been a very nice week.

You can check Cushing and Yale... maybe Ponca City although it's a bit further. You might have to end up staying in Tulsa or OKC. Maybe rent a car service if you don't want to mess with driving. It can get a little pricey but if you have group of people it isn't too bad. Also - talked to one of my buddies who works at OSU. They had 140,000+ ticket early ticket requests after the first show was announced, which is why they added the second.

I had like 4 different groups of friends, maybe 20 people in total, all trying to get tickets this morning. I'd say the success rate was maybe 10-20%. Both shows were announced as sold out a few hours ago. OSU Athletics also announced they are adding two more shows - Thursday and Sunday - and there would be details soon on when those would go on sale.

I used to literally see all of these bands in dive bars and now they are selling 180,000 tickets for four straight stadium shows. I can't even wrap my mind around that.
October 9, 20241 yr I love Mike Mcclure and The Great Divide. They were my first first into red dirt music. I'm glad they're still playing after all these years
October 9, 20241 yr Same here. Saw them at a bar in Manhattan in the late 90s. “Hey, I really like this music.”
