January 17Jan 17 I scored a free pair of Isbell + 400U tix at ACL Live on April 4th. Can't wait, I've never seen him.
January 18Jan 18 I’m a fairly passive listener of Sarah Shook and the Disarmers but just saw this - breaking up the band, I assume she’ll continue solo or put together some new group
January 18Jan 18 Got tix for SWjr in FW, had to go second hand bc didn’t have a presale and shit sold out quick.

I was unaware of this guy until catching up on this thread, but he slams bigly.
January 24Jan 24 Hadn’t paid attention, didn’t know Jason had a new one coming out. Bury Me popped on out of the blue this morning. So good, that is so good.

Just saw him play an hour + set at Mile 0 Fest last week. My wife, who had not really previously listened to him, was blown away. One of the best sets of the week. And got to see a little band play 6 songs together for the first time in 15 years. Go by the name of Cross Canadian Ragweed. (To say that it was an electric moment would be a bit of an understatement.)
January 28Jan 28 We have tickets for Stillwater. Mostly I am going to pay homage to The Great Divide, who was my first introduction into non-mainstream country, when I was in college.

They were not there but the Mike McLure Band was, and they played a day set that was kick ass....one of my favorites of the week. He can still bring it.

January 30Jan 30 I’m split between loving Stephen Wilson and loving him and feeling like he has too much shit on his voice I don’t know how many times I’ve heard this song and a few other from Plains without realizing it’s Jess from college, goddamn, good for her.

February 2Feb 2 Sierra Ferrell cleaning up at the Grammy’s good for her Quote On Sunday (2-2) during the Grammy’s “Premier Ceremony” that precedes the big telecast on CBS, Sierra Ferrell nearly swept the American Roots categories where she was nominated four times. Ferrell won all four categories, walking away with trophies for Best Americana Album (Trail of Flowers), Best American Roots Song (“American Dreaming” with co-writer Melody Walker), Best Americana Performance (“American Dreaming”), and Best American Roots Performance for “Lighthouse.” These wins will not just make Sierra Ferrell one of the biggest winners in country and roots music. It will make her one of the biggest Grammy getters in 2025, if not the biggest before the night is over. https://savingcountrymusic.com/sierra-ferrell-wins-big-at-2025-grammy-awards/

I couldn't stop watching the dude. I wanted to know where his pickup switch was, etc. It was an AH-HA moment that finally sunk in. Sure, I've watched players before but not with intense curiosity. Inspiration comes in strange packages.
February 13Feb 13 Every artist I love plays the upper Midwest between April 15 and May 15, or from September 20 through November 15. Like absolute god damn clockwork. No June. No January. Fuck you, Al. Fuck. You.

February 13Feb 13 planning on doing tulsa. been looking for an excuse to go to the dylan and guthrie centers.

February 14Feb 14 Yeah, I'm pretty excited for this one as well. Weathervanes completely changed the way I felt about his career's direction. In hindsight it seems pretty obvious that was his "divorce" album. However he seems to be mining some dark shit here in the title track. I haven't fully figured it out, but between the mood and a few of the couplets that stuck in my head, it seems fairly fucked up in the right ways.
February 15Feb 15 I was hoping this was a Belle and Sebastian cover. But it’s still a damn good song.

February 21Feb 21 Got tickets to the CCR/Turnpike show at Baylor on Aug 23. Will have Shane Smith & The Saints, Wade Bowen, and American Aquarium. Edited February 21Feb 21 by BurntOrange&White

Nice simple recording, love the lyrics, a very slight Kasey Musgraves hint to her voice and a bit of that North Carolina "we don't know if we're country or indie rock" vibe a la Whiskeytown. Delete post, ban user if already posted. I was trying to remember if it was from this thread that I was listening to Wednesday. MJ Lenderman has officially left the band, lol or i guess at least, no longer a touring member Edited February 21Feb 21 by Celery Man
February 24Feb 24 There are some Isbell/DBT parallels with Lenderman and Wednesday, but it seems like they're much more cordial than that situation got. His solo career is too big at this point to be doing that AND a devoted member of Wednesday. Plus being on the road with your ex has to be weird even if you're cool with each other. Speaking of Wednesday, this rips.
February 26Feb 26 Not sure if all shows are moved, but just got update Isbells Houston show moved to November
February 27Feb 27 If he's sandbagging the advance singles as much as he did on Weathervanes, this album is going to be nuts.
March 2Mar 2 Saw Isbell tonight in DC. Great show - Chaos and Clothes was my favorite. No Cover Me Up, Elephant, 24 Frames or Speed Trap so undoubtedly some newbies left kinda upset. His voice sounds better than I’ve ever heard it. New songs I don’t love but we’ll see how they flow in the album.
