July 24, 20196 yr I don't mean prescriptive, "how to", but more business books that inform while telling a good story. Think like, Liar's Poker (really any Michael Lewis), Too Big to fail, Bad Blood, Shoe Dog, etc. Anyone read anything good lately?
July 24, 20196 yr Barbarians At The Gate is not new, but very entertaining. The Taking of Getty Oil similar. Serpent on the Rock (Prudential) is pretty good. Edited July 24, 20196 yr by TwiceHorn
July 24, 20196 yr The Big Short was fantastic. Haven't read Flash Boys, but i love Lewis, so I'm sure that is good as will.
July 25, 20196 yr ^^^^ Both good. Also Smartest Guys in the Room (Enron, not Lewis, but good). Liars Poker introduced me to the genre and it's hard to beat, but there's a lot of pretty good stuff out there. Den of Thieves about Milken and the Drexel people is good also.

September 3, 20196 yr Not really in line with your request for an actual event / story...but these are great books on globalization and the strain it creates on cultures. Lexus and the Olive Tree Jihad vs. McWorld
December 8, 20214 yr I read Barbarians at the Gate a couple of years ago and loved it. Considered rereading it. Currently reading The Everything Store (Bezos/Amazon), and enjoying it quite a bit.

June 23, 20232 yr I’m a huge fan of Charlie Munger. This is probably the best book of compilations of Mungers many board meetings, speaking engagements, etc.. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/023117098X/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1687547594&sr=8-1 Edited June 23, 20232 yr by MalibuSheriff Broken link
