In addition to unlimited magazine size, stopping to reload again when they just reloaded like three or four shots ago. Rifles can't hit crap, but the good guy makes a one handed pistol shot on a moving target fifty yards away. Complete disregard for the four rules. Completely misidentifying guns. I can live with them using a submachine gun that looks similar to what the character would have had and stuff like that since they can't always get the real thing easily, but cartridge revolvers in civil war films? And shooting smokeless powder? You gotta pour powder and ram a ball into each chamber and then put caps on each chamber to reload that puppy. And it puts out a ton of smoke every time you pull the trigger.
July 30, 20196 yr A few more... Firing a gun indoors or in a car. Yeah, you can't hear anything for a while there bud. Suppressors making pew pew noises. That's gonna sound like a nail gun or something. Maybe no sound at all except a click with the right type of gun. A box of bullets getting set on fire does not typically send bullets flying every which way. The brass might fly out, but the bullet itself won't move much.

July 30, 20196 yr Along the gun theme, mine is a screen writing fail: Don't introduce a chekov's gun, then fail to use it, unless you are going to incorporate/acknowldege that failure as part of the plot. It drives me insane to the point of distraction. The final season of GOT, which was rife with flaws, did it over and over and over again. It was fucking maddening. What was the point of this conversation or that lingering shot if you weren't going to circle back to it later. Just edit that shit out and move on.

July 30, 20196 yr The person running from the bad guy in the woods always keeps looking behind themselves then they run into a tree or trip and hurt themselves allowing the bad guy to catch up. Plots involving legal issues/the legal system that are completely and totally wrong.
July 30, 20196 yr Movie sex scenes are the worst. Guy is instantly hard with no foreplay or contact, penetration occurs within the first 5 seconds, both people get off within 30 seconds, immediately fall asleep, then fade to the next scene. I really appreciate the rare occasion when there are cuts during the middle of it to at least suggest it lasted longer than 5 minutes.
July 30, 20196 yr Eating and talking for sure. Trying to base a plot line or a joke around a phone/social media/texts. NBCSN poker show mic'ing up the chips to the sound level of the hosts. I like the two young commentators, and I don't mind a little chip-clicking in the background.

Her mouth goes agape. He storms off. She recovers but can neither yell or chase him down to say, "It was my brother." This is one of mine too, but, when you think about it, how could Hollywood ever make another RomCom if you take away the 2nd act minor misunderstanding that escalates into the presumed end of the relationship because neither party takes the time to explain said misunderstanding?

Evil lady stabs Batman, says it's too late to save Gotham, the nuke will detonate in minutes. Cut to bomb timer: 11 minutes. Evil lady walks outside, gets in tank, kills police commissioner, drives away to meet semi-truck carrying bomb. Catwoman drives motorcycle into courthouse, kills Bane, rescues Batman. Batman boards nearby Batplane, chases down convoy, and fires an opening missile salvo. Cut to timer again: 9 minutes and some change. I don't understand it in the slightest. How hard is it to keep time-flow somewhat realistic? Nolan obviously isn't a hack. Would the audience be any less captivated if the timer started at 15 minutes?

Also, every encounter the couple is breathlessly tearing off clothes and crashing around the room in the throes of their ardor. Every time. Does no one like to take a little time to unwrap the package? Maybe become acquainted a little more with the person? Maybe dramatic interaction instead of a pat intro to sex which is always wildly synchronized and satisfying. Plus, I'm bored with make-out and sex scenes. If they go on for more than a few seconds, I start wondering what the actors felt like doing it as I await the story to move on. I sort of wonder if our sexual attitudes and worry about performance make writers shy about taking chances with a sex scene in the way a new lover must take chances with his/her partner.
July 30, 20196 yr Hate seeing classic cars getting destroyed needlessly in film and TV. Granted, some are backup cars but still. Is that really necessary?

I don't care if it is showing tits and ass. It stops the movie/show down and is awkward to watch. You can show the build up of what is about to happen and then cut to either the next scene or them lying in bed together after they are done. Even a 10 year old can infer what went down. No need to see it.
July 30, 20196 yr Regarding sex scenes, got to love how the woman just got fucked but has to pull the blanket up to her chin to hide her nakedness to her partner. Hanging up like a boss...

It probably became a thing in TV and then got carried over to movies.

July 30, 20196 yr The 10 year old begs to differ. 13 year old more so.I mean all these kids have access to porn at their fingertips these days. I get it when I was growing up and seeing sex scenes in movies or softcore stuff on Cinemax was a big deal. I had no internet at that age in my home. It's a much different world now than it was back then. Also, is it required that every show these days have a gay character? I feel it's like shows back in the day feeling the need to have a black character just to show diversity and no other reason. Gay characters don't bother me at all. It's the writers feeling the need to remind us that they are gay pretty much every time they are on the screen. It's overkill after awhile.
July 31, 20196 yr It bothers me when actors or actresses are cast to play characters that don’t match their age. People in their 20s playing high school kids, people in their 30s with late teens or early 20s children, etc. It would be ok if the plot included a history of teenage pregnancy or something to justify the casting choice, but just to casually have a 36 year old actress playing a mom with a 20 year old kid is kinda stupid.

That is so goddamn theatrical and overt it's stupid. I don't need you to explain to me what's happening, and i don't want or need the characters in your film to speak and behave like characters in a film. how about they act like real people? ever think of that? Yeah. Poor expository dialogue is my pet peeve. Saw How to Lose a Guy in 10 days with my wife. August 1, 20196 yr Someone drowns or otherwise receives a death blow. People try to resuscitate them and finally give up. After a dramatic pause, the dead person coughs up water (or a big gasp of air), sits up quickly and gasps a few more times, then they are fine as if they were just napping and nothing happened.

Every fucking movie seems to start in the middle or near the end these days. What's wrong with telling things as they happen in sequential order every now and then? It was cool/clever in Memento, but time jumping just for the point of time jumping is lame. Lately, it just feels like a blatant shortcut to try to get the audience's attention with an action scene or dramatic moment that otherwise they wouldn't have been able to show in the beginning of the movie. August 1, 20196 yr A scene in a crowded city street or block that you know is crowded af in real life but in the movie its practically empty and so easy to get around. Fuck off.
