I was thinking about how ironic it would be if EMAWesome had good taste in music. Then I click on the thread and it turns out he is listening to Rush, Boston, and Steely Dan.

Gah, what a beating.  Not that I don't admire someone who is willing to dissect songs at that level, but why would I want to watch it go down?

So you can learn things about songs you didn't know.  Like the intro to Jeremy by Pearl Jam is played on a 12 string bass and there is also a cello in the song.  Or  producer Terry Brown contributing uncredited back up vocals on Limelight.

Or that that droning sound after the acoustic guitar on the intro to Roundabout is a piano note flipped backwards.  Towards the end of the song there is also a backwards guitar solo.

The Doors-Touch Me

I've had the original 45 of this ever since I stole it from my older sister.  I've listened to this song at least a hundred times.  I never noticed that Morrison sings "Stronger than dirt."  over the last four notes before the cold ending.

You can hate on Rush and / or Boston if you like but you cross the line with Steely Dan.

there is no such thing as a "great" Doors song.  Unless you are under the influence of LSD maybe.

Dissecting a Doors song is like dissecting an earthworm.  There's not much there.
