September 3, 20232 yr 3-0 Texas 30 minutes in. This is going about as bad as you would think it would having to play down a player for 89 minutes in a 100 degree weather.
September 3, 20232 yr Author 4-0 Texas at the half. The LSU loss is so frustrating because this team should be a lot fucking better. BYU though, is going to step in and win the conference year 1. They are good
September 3, 20232 yr The LSU loss was just a weird one. Gave up an early goal and then 2 really shitty calls by the refs. They were shell-shocked after that. Kind of similar to this SMU game where everything goes wrong from the start.
September 4, 20232 yr Gonzaga will be a big one next Sunday. They are ranked in the top 25. This was going to be a competitive match until the SMU red card in the 1st minute. I don't think Texas is complaining though after the rig job against LSU.
September 4, 20232 yr 7 hours ago, Js1 said: Dominating win Were Byars’ sisters as highly ranked as she was? It's tough to get a read on Texas because in the 2 matches against decent teams, they were both ref shows. 1 working in our favor and 1 working against us.
September 4, 20232 yr aggy just gave their longtime head coach an extension but I wonder how much longer he has left? They're 1-3-1 this year, lost in the 1st round last year, and missed the tournament in 2021. 3 years of bad results. Bjork does not seem like a good AD. This Texags thread is ripping him on the extension. https://texags.com/forums/51/topics/3396236/2 Edited September 4, 20232 yr by Rickylovesweed
September 7, 20232 yr Posted last week... Trinity Byars on Legacy, the Forty Acres & Texas Soccer | Between The Horns Ep. 1 [Aug. 30, 2023]
September 10, 20232 yr 0-0 FT against Gonzaga today. Texas finishes 6-1-1 in non-conference, 0-1-1 against ranked teams, and 0-1 against Power 5 teams.
September 10, 20232 yr 0-0 draw with Gonzaga. Think that's still a good result as Gonzaga is a top 25 team. Didn't expect that score though as Texas and Gonzaga are two of the highest scoring teams in college soccer.
September 10, 20232 yr Author Didn’t have Byars for most of the match - only 57 min Naturally, #1 and #3 offenses end in a 0-0 tie

I don't know where Texas is ranked in RPI but think they're in a good position. Massey has Texas at #13 and that was prior to the Gonzaga result. SMU is pretty good. Since they lost to Texas they beat Baylor and Oklahoma State. Texas has 2 good results in a win over SMU and draw against Gonzaga. https://masseyratings.com/csocw/ncaa-d1/ratings Edited September 10, 20232 yr by Rickylovesweed
September 11, 20232 yr Author They touched on it during the broadcast - Byars and Missimo are #2 in the nation in goals scored - 10. A player from Nebraska leads with 12 Missimo is #1 in the nation in assists at 15 - well ahead of a bunch of players, including Byars, who are #2 with 7 assists Even with the shutout yesterday, Texas is still the #1 scoring offense at 4.38 goals per game and #66 at goals allowed per game at .75
September 15, 20232 yr Looks like no Byars in the starting lineup against Baylor. Some brutal injuries. Arguably 2 of the top 3 players now out (Cox and Byars). Both All-Big 12 players.
September 15, 20232 yr Hopefully Byars is able to come back later in conference play. Gonna be a long season without her.
September 15, 20232 yr 50 minutes ago, Js1 said: 0-0 half. Texas has an offense problem without Byars Texas definitely misses Byars but it also looks like Texas has changed their approach. 13 minutes away from the 6th straight shutout after giving up a bunch of goals early in the year. Looks like Texas has decided to be a little more defensive-minded even if that means less offense.
September 15, 20232 yr 4-0 win against Baylor and 6th straight shutout. The team responded in the 2nd half with no Byars. Outside of the wonky LSU result (refs blah) I think this team has definitely looked like a top 20 team. Not sure they are without Byars long-term though.
September 15, 20232 yr Is that Byars in the last photo? Arm in a sling? Maybe a broken arm or dislocated shoulder.
September 15, 20232 yr TCU and #1 BYU opened Big 12 play with a 3-3 draw tonight in Provo. TCU had a chance for a major upset. They were up 2-0 at one point. Hopefully, Byars is back soon because Texas is going to need her. Texas Tech is receiving votes in the top 25 and beat UH 3-0 tonight. They will likely be in the top 25 next week. Then it's BYU who is ranked #1. Two tough matches coming up but Texas has a week off so maybe Byars will be back.
September 15, 20232 yr Massey has Texas ranked #9 with the next 2 matches against #35 Texas Tech and #3 BYU. Hope Byars is back.

September 18, 20232 yr Author Looks like we picked up a bunch of commits over the weekend for the class of 2025: 3* F Sadie Hoch (Newport Harbor, CA) 4* F Annie Gnidula (Hopkins School, CT) 4* F Audrey Bryant (Ursuline Academy, TX) 3* D Pearce Groer (Webb School, TN) Edited September 18, 20232 yr by Js1
September 21, 20232 yr Looks like Byars is back. Great news if true. About to play #25 Texas Tech on LHN.
September 21, 20232 yr Nevermind, I see she's in the starting lineup after 2nd look. Edited September 21, 20232 yr by Rickylovesweed
September 22, 20232 yr Texas goalie Justice injured herself jumping for a save. She's out of the game for now
September 22, 20232 yr Great finish by Byars. Tied up. We need a better work rate out of the midfield. Tech has too much possession.

September 22, 20232 yr Need to keep getting Byars out wide instead of centrally. She's too fast for Tech.

September 22, 20232 yr Author Angela Kelly squads are so hard to watch. Giving up a goal in the final 10 is usually an outcome I’ve come to expect. What a fucking choke
September 23, 20232 yr On 9/21/2023 at 9:09 PM, Js1 said: A draw is about the best outcome with all the injuries They need to find a new strength and conditioning coach. Every year it seems like we're down a bunch of players.
September 26, 20232 yr A 30 year old just scored for BYU to take the lead with 6 minutes left. Another late game choke under Kelly.
