I'm wondering if any of the resident vehicle maintenance experts can chime in and help me with a couple of issues i'm having with my 2013 F150 Super Crew Lariat.

  • Horn not working when pressing center of steering wheel
    • Somewhat intermittent...it worked long enough to get an inspection after a short stay at the body shop for hail damage repair
    • The horn itself works...it makes noise when you use the remote to double lock the door
    • Fuses seem OK
    • Other steering wheel controls work (cruise, audio, etc)
  • Driver's seat automatic adjustment controls not working
    • Memory buttons work and will move the seat
    • None of the other adjustments do anything
    • Fuses seem OK (checked engine and internal fuses associated with the seat)
    • Power mirror automatic folding works
    • Tried unplugging/plugging the wire harness back in, but didn't help.  No obvious damage.  There are two harnesses, one for the memory buttons, the other for all the adjusters.

The horn issue has been happening for a while (4-5 months), but the seat adjustment is more recently noticed.  I had the truck in the shop for hail damage repair 2 months ago and had a water pump replaced last month.  I don't really see how either of those repairs could have jacked up the seat, but who knows...Any ideas?  This bitch is paid off in a couple of months.

If the horn itself works than the issue pretty much has to be the switch in the steering wheel. That shouldn’t be too hard to replace. I’ve replace my whole steering wheel and it was easy.
