August 14, 20232 yr Uncle baby Billy doing the robot to show he wasn't paraplegic was gold. That finale seemed like it was set to be series finale. Where do they go with the season 4 renewal? I'm in for sure

August 29, 20232 yr I only started watching this show a couple months ago, and finally watched the last episode of Season 3 last night. Holy shit, this is one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time. I was a fan of Eastbound and Down, but the writing and cast for this is 10x better. Danny McBride is a comedic treasure. Looking forward to Season 4, and in the meantime I'll binge watch Vice Principals.

I feel like there's a lot more room for weird character development with Gemstones, whereas with Eastbound and Down there's an element of "are we actually getting away with saying this on television?" to it.
August 29, 20232 yr I would say this and What We Do In The Shadows are the two most ridiculous comedies on TV right now.
September 13, 20232 yr Popular Post Not an amazing story but figured some people on this thread might appreciate. I went to LA last weekend to hang with @henrygandorf and we watched the game at a bar where Texas Exes go. Game started at 4pm PST, we decided to get there around noon to eat lunch and get a good table for rest of our group that would join later. The restaurant/bar was pretty much empty when we arrived. There was a dude in a Bama shirt sitting by himself at the bar. HG and I sit at a table, and the Bama guy comes over to talk. Nice kid, knows football, not a trash talker at all. Grew up in Birmingham and lifelong Tide fan. Probably shot the shit with him for a good 2 hours. Asked him what he does for a living...says he's an actor/producter/writer and just moved to LA about a year ago. That's the story you always hear in LA, so didn't think much of it. But later he mentioned that he was on an episode of The Righteous Gemstones. That perked my ears, I took a closer look at him, and was like holy shit! He played young Eli (aka The Maniac Kid) in Season 2 premiere that started with a long flashback. He was surrounded by Texas fans all night and handled it well when we pulled away for the W. After the game was over he came by our table again and asked for our numbers so we could text about Texas and Bama as the year goes on.

January 23Jan 23 ‘Righteous Gemstones’ to End With Season 4 at HBO, Final Episodes to Premiere in March “The Righteous Gemstones” will end its run at HBO with its upcoming fourth season, Variety has learned. The comedy series was renewed for Season 4 at HBO back in July 2023. An exact premiere date has yet to be set, but the final episodes will begin airing in March. “The Lord spoke to me and said it’s time to wrap this sucker up,” series creator and star Danny McBride said. “The story this season made the themes, ideas, and characters in ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ feel whole and complete. I have loved every second of working with this team for the past eight years, and there are some incredible payoffs, twists, and turns in store over the course of this wild final season.”
January 31Jan 31 I thought the Season 3 finale was a perfect ending, but I'm not going to complain about one more season. Looks like they added Stifler to the cast. Trailer: https://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/1885025514345177259 Edited January 31Jan 31 by Don Johnson
January 31Jan 31 Yup Season 3 wrapped up beautifully, but if they're willing to make more, I'm willing to watch it.

I would've been fine if Season 3 was the end. But I fucking loved this show, and I thought each season had its own hilariously unique storyline, so it didn't feel like recycled plot lines and jokes. Hoping Season 4 is the same. Edited February 3Feb 3 by South Austin

March 10Mar 10 This show never fails to surprise. Pretty good family backstory to start the final season.
March 10Mar 10 WTF is this show? Can I be your assistant chaplain was the only funny line in 40 minutes. Theres a funny version of Bradley Cooper as a swindler Civil War chaplain, but this was not it.

March 11Mar 11 Meh. Would’ve been fine with that if they released 2 episodes so when the season started, we actually got the show.
March 12Mar 12 Interesting that we got the annual “Prelude” show in the season premiere. I thought that was very well done. Bradley Cooper was probably Eli’s great-grandfather??? Maybe grandfather but that might be stretching it a little bit.
