Meaningless in terms of advancement in this tournament. All games have meaning.

Except for the Carabao Cup...

This guy gets it.

But the description is why the game is on TV.

That said, Spurs-Olympiacos might have been the game that should have been on TV due to "meaning." Especially with the start Spurs had.

Got a call from the German cousin and she told me that my Godson's Borussia Mönchengladbach U-19 team won yesterday so they qualified for the youth version of next year's Champions League. And, he was

yeah, y'all are right.  when 2 of the 6 richest clubs in the world with some of the most insane talent in the world meet for only the 10th time in their history, it's meaningless.

i get that this match doesn't have much impact on the group stage table, but this game isn't meaningless.  this game is a barometer for both teams about where they are and where they can go.  and the talent here is sick.
Real up 2-0.
Scratch that.  Mbappe just scored.

Neymar and others were benched....so not accurate barometer...big clubs but thats all the match was an exhibition

What we know so far

Liverpool needs to join the winners tomorrow

Group C runner up is still up in the air with the other 3 teams. Shakhtar (6) vs Atalanta (4) and City vs Dinamo (5)

Group D is down to Athletico (7) and Leverkusen (6). Leverkusen v Juve and Athletico v Lokomotive

Valencia blows an easy chance early.  This group is crazy with Chelsea, Valencia, and Ajax all with 7 points coming into play today.

Rodrigo just executed the worst miss i have ever seen, and keep in mind that Gervinho used to play for Arsenal. Wow. Wait until you see this miss. It's incredible.

Valencia is on full Miss Mode.

and Rodrigo gets the assist to perhaps make up for that amazing and spectacular miss.

1-1 at half.  Abraham off injured, doesn't look too good.  He was holding his right side/hip area.

yeah that was a really awkward fall, landing right on someone else's legs. and he was pretty high up there too. that had to hurt.

Why is the Valencia-Chelsea game in the early time slot?
So we can watch liverpool

This has been a good game.  Pulisic had a nice poacher's goal and then a great dummy setup Wass to equalize on a hell of a strike (or cross?)

wow what a stunner. i accidentally knocked a bunch of shit over when that ball went in, lol.

7 minutes stoppage time

Wow, terrible flubbed chance by Rodrigo

wow, if Mason Mount gets that cross its game over.

and holy shit, ANOTHER complete blunder by Valencia at the other end!!

damn. Valencia have to be kicking themselves...because they damn sure aren't kicking the ball!! christ, they blew chance after chance in the most spectacular ways.

2-2 final.  That was a great game.  The back and forth in stoppage time was nuts.

Going to Ajax for the final match day, Valencia will rue those misses.

Took Ajax 2 minutes to score on Lyon with Ziyech getting it early. He has been on fire lately.

He's been on fire for 2 years now. Not sure why one of the big clubs doesn't snatch him up.

Ajax could still win today and it might not matter because of the draw. That final day is going to be a blood bath in Group H.

Being up 3-0 helps...

F, G, and H could all have 3 teams alive to win the group going into the last game.

Suarez scores to put Barca up 1-0 over Dortmund.  They already lead Dortmund by 1 point so they're looking to clinch the group with a win today.

As much as they have sold last year holding on to him and Tadic has been huge.

Messi scores, 2-0

Liverpool needs to get it together 2nd half

Just flipped on the Liverpool game and they scored.

You're welcome

Slavia Prague just had a boner on defense and gave up a literal open net goal to Inter (Lukaku). Inter is up 2-1. That ties them with Dortmund at 7 of all results hold.

Even Lukaku couldn't miss this

No. Just need to win our last match and we finish first.

Liverpool just need to win next match

  • 2 weeks later...

Group a/b are set....

Group c 2nd spot open...

Shaktar win and in...if they draw zagreb is in with a win over city

Atalanta needs win and zagreb draw/loss

Group d second spot open...

Atletico win OR leverkusen loss/draw

Leverkusen need a win and atletico loss/draw

Group e....

Liverpool win takes 1st...draw secures KO rd

Napoli 1st with win and liverpool draw/loss

Draw secures KO rd....can lose as long as salzburg lose also

Salzburg need a win over liverpool but

If the score is 5-4 or higher and 1G difference and napoli W then liverpool advance

If salzburg win and napoli draw...both advance

Group f second spot open...

Inter milan just needs to match or better dortmunds result

Dortmund has to better milan result

Group g one spot open....

Liepzig is secure but win/draw gets 1st spot

Zenit needs win/draw and lyon draw/loss

Lyon needs a win(would take 1st) ... Or only a draw if zenit lose

Group h everything in play...

Ajax ...needs a draw to secure advancement

A win secures 1st

A loss if chelsea draw/lose

Valencia needs a win to secure advancement

A draw is good if chelsea draw/lose

Win plus chelsea draw/lose gets 1st

Chelsea just needs a win

A draw is good IF Valencia lose

A win with valencia draw gets 1st

Enjoy the show!!!

Also i think valencia wins group with a win even if chelsea wins also...

Napoli up 1-0 already

Halftime, Napoli up 3-0 and Liverpool and Salzburg tied 0-0.  It looks like Napoli will be through with 12 points.  Liverpool will win the group at 13 points with a win, be 2nd at 11 points with a draw.  Salzburg will finish 2nd with a win as long as Liverpool score 2 goals or fewer.

Wow, Liverpool score 2 in quick succession.

This might be Mo Salah's most ridiculous goal ever
