5600 block of mt Bonnell looks to be on the south side which has lights.  Makes more sense for it happening at north side because no light and Cedric traveling west.  Doesn’t seem like arrests were made.

Sad and tragic news.  He left this world way too early.  RIP.

One of my brothers lives about three blocks away from that intersection, so this tragedy does hit close to his home.

RIP Ced, you were one of a kind. 🤘

Well this sucks. His Longhorn career was great but his 2000 senior season at Midland Lee was amazing.

RIP Ced

God damnit. RIP Cedric Benson.

One of the most dominant HS RBs this state has ever seen. Dude was a fucking monster.

RIP 32.  Rest easy, you were one of the greats.

So sad. They are a coffin on wheels, I fucking hate motorcycles for this reason.

Just saw video of cop talking . Looks like it happened on north mt Bonnell.  Cop said that when cars come over hill at high speed on mt Bonnell road towards 2222, it is hard to stop at the stop sign there.  Kind of insinuating that the van went through stop sign and into 2222 west bound lane.

Still pissed Mack didn't put him in against OU his fr year.

Allegedly because he didn't know the blitz pickups...stupid.  RIP to one of the all time great!

Ugh.
Don't ride motorcycles

I almost got one after my divorce, but decided it was a stupid idea.

My God, just seeing this.

What a gut punch.  I saw a guy lose control of his motorcycle the other night on Lamar near 24th.  Hit the curb and flew like a rag doll half a football field into Pease Park.

Margin for error on those things is next to nil.

FUCK

Sorry. South side now does have a light, but still sucks with the cars zooming down the hill westbound.

Damnit. RIP bro. Good times at the Drink on 6th back in the day.

🙏🏽

RIP

God damn motorcycles.  Get your loved ones off of them.  Fucking deathtraps.  😖

Holy shit. Fuck motorcycles. RIP Cedric, you were a West Texas legend and we'll never forget you.

I really hope this isn't true. Oh damn.

Also guys, don't ride motorcycles.

This. There is a reason that surgeons refer to motorcycle riders as walking organ donors. Just a sad situation all around. I hope for the best for his 10 year old daughter.

I would guess for the LaTech game they will do a tribute video. Wont be many dry eyes.

Terrible news. Ced was a beast of a RB. Seemed like he was overcoming many of his demons...life cut way too short.

That happened to my youngest son when he snuck his older brother’s dirt bike out to ride it down the street. He only dislocated his shoulder though.

Wtf!!!!!!! I loved Cedric.  I remember his ass in high school. 3 straight state championships 350 plus yards and 5 touchdowns in every game.

He waxed my SA MacArthur team.

Random fact: Ced was the first high school player on the cover of DCTF.

It's a very sad day.  It might be good to take jersey number 32 out of circulation.

If memory serves, the first three carries he ever got for UT were in garbage time in a blowout against rice or ULaLa or something. The crowd absolutely erupted seeing him come off the sideline. He hit the hole so hard and so smooth. He was unique.

This is about the shittiest of things that can possibly happen. We are lesser without him with us. He made all of us better. He made everyone around him better. Cedric was the first Longhorn I ever liked. I fell madly in love with the University of Texas basically because of him. He is the reason I became interested in Texas. Before that I didn't really follow any team. I will miss him.

Ex-NFL running back Cedric Benson -- the #4 overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft -- was killed in a motorcycle crash in Austin, Texas late Saturday night. He was only 36.
