Not terribly surprised between his massage antics and declining performance. Probably an easier decision than the Ravens are making it out to be.

Damn.  From a probable NFL Hall of Famer to being cut in about a year.  What an incredible downfall.

Don't embarrass your employer, I guess

dont fucking say shit, there were people live marvin harison and ray lewis in the NFL. Its not about rape it was just a way to cut him for performance.

The Ravens are a generally smart organization. If they had cut Tucker between February and the draft, there’s a good chance everyone would know they were interested in drafting a kicker the way it worked out, a kicker they like was still on the board of the sixth round. They brought him in into camp to make sure he could actually kick last week, then cut Tucker today.

Unless you're Ray Lewis.

Don't suck on the field AND off the field bro.

Guarantee you he will get picked up.

His greatness is not done yet….on the field that is.

Is there a buyout involved here?

No. He got about half his contract’s total value early on via signing bonus and a restructure bonus. His annual base salaries for ‘25 ($4.2m), ‘26 ($4.2m), and ‘27 ($5.15m) were not guaranteed. Ravens take a dead cap hit for the remaining prorated amount of his signing bonus ($7.5m, or about $3.75m for the next two years). Net savings by removing his $4.2m base and paying rookie kicker almost nothing.

Sliced either direction it’s smart

He and Deshaun Watson should start their own team. Or open a massage parlor.

Do you seriously think they would have used a draft pick on a fucking kicker and then cut him if it their concerns were purely about performance?

This has to tank his chances at making the Hall of Fame. Feels like it was a sure thing before all the pervy bullshit came to light. What a fucking idiot.

Don't read this as a defense of Justin Tucker's misdeeds, more of an observation about how we've progressed for the better:

I wouldn't be shocked to learn that many HOFers got away with similar stuff and it was swept under the rug or never taken seriously. Locker room talk, you know.

As others have pointed out, he might still have had a happy ending if his on-field performance hadn't tanked.

Football video games literally had to change their programs to adjust for his kicking; now, he's a late night talk show punchline.

Yeah, I think he's gone from being a definite in to a definite out.

What did Marvin Harrison do?

He’s probably an idiot, but it’s not like he went out and tanked his HoF chances. All of the allegations were from a decade or more ago, long before he would have been sniffing the HoF.

Given the timing, it’s certainly possible that the Ravens were aware previously and waited until he was losing his skills to allow it to leak out.

Technically the voters for HOF are only supposed to consider the on field performance. This came up before with Lawrence Taylor and Terrell Owens. Technically is highly variable

This was always my argument for why Pete Rose should be in the HOF. It was never ‘proven’ that he bet while a player, only as a manager. Therefore in my esteemed opinion, he should have been in the HOF as a player only. He should be banned as a manager, which is one of those problems that takes care of itself…

Or maybe civilly creepy?

I think you are probably right about him not getting picked up, but I actually think the 10 game suspension makes it slightly more likely that he gets picked up later in the season by a team that is struggling at the kicker position.  At least now, the team can treat it like he served his time.

He plays kicker, I highly doubt a team is going to risk the negative publicity they'll receive for a sexual predator kicker.

Why would a team pick up a guy who is currently one of the worst kickers in the league?

Too bad.

Apparently he picked up the habit after dragging his balls all over A&M’s face in 2012.
