Can't find it now but there was a tweet earlier today that he had a short workout on the field today, went and sat down on the bench and talked with the GM for about 30 minutes and from there directly left the facility.  Whatever went down it definitely seems to be on the fly.

Is now a bad time to mention that Andrew himself said he would have gone to Texas if offered?

Maybe he would prefer a backup role back in his hometown.

DraftKings imo.  Using that Stanford education to dominate beginner leagues

He rushed back too soon a couple years ago with the bum shoulder, and it cost him the season. Now, he has a calf strain that won’t heal, and didn’t want to make the same mistake twice. I wonder if he was feeling some pressure from the team to return and he said, “fuck it” and quit. He’s still young, has a brain that hasn’t been scrambled yet, and plenty of scratch in the bank.

Jesus. Man if I’m a colts fan i completely understand that this game is tough and his health is important. But I’m also pissed. Dude could have done this in March or some shit.

Easy, very, to travel the world at 40.

This right here. They hung him out to dry with their roster construction over the years. Utterly embarrassing.

Surprised this doesn't happen more often in all sports after guys earn tens of millions of dollars, especially if they're from well-to-do families like Luck.

Yeah, this.  Guy has money and went to Stanford.

Career 61% completion percentage and a 2:1 TD/Int ratio. Those numbers are straight out of the mid-90s in the most wide open era in league history.

Even without the injuries, relative to his “best QB prospect ever” hype, he’s arguably a bust. I’m not saying he was bad. But he wasn’t special.

Hard to know for sure with the injuries and lack of team support.

Fucking sucks.  Jesus, how bad is his current Injury? I wonder if this is really the end or he just needs a break, MJ style?

If that's the case, his dad better watch his back.

He'll be retired for 2 years, get healthy, get bored, and make a comeback.

Like Barry Sanders did?

Every time he walks past a mirror.

Millions in the bank I assume.  Stanford degree. Contacts all over.   Doesn't want to barely be able to walk at 50 and have CTE

so he walks away from tens of millions$ left on contract right?

Always hated going to Indy.

Yeah maybe he just got sick of spending most of his life there...

The Colts backup QBs are ass, my dude.  "Colin Kaepernick? The Colts are on line one."

A) Zero chance Kap is going to Indy for either side

B)Brissett isn’t half bad

In true Texans fashion/luck, minutes after news of Luck’s retirement gets out, Texans RB1 Lamar Miller blows out his knee in a preseason game.

Really sad.  One of the best PAC QBs of all time.  Could have been a hall of famer.  Don’t blame him though.  He can make money elsewhere.  You only get one shot at life.  No point in spending it crippled if you can avoid it.

With what we now know I can’t blame any guy for walking away.

How does the money work here?  Signing bonus clawback?  Future guaranteed money?  If he claims it is for health reasons does that change anything?

Timing sucks, but kudos to him for leaving on his terms.

Bunch of fat midwestern slobs booing him too.

This will become more and more common.  We've seen it with marginal players but this is a big time starting marque position player to hang it up.

No mo captain Andrew Luck Twitter, sucks

He has to give back the remaining balance of his last signing bonus, depending on how it was structured year over year, and possibly any roster bonuses that matured since the beginning of the league business year.

I remember when it was Luck and Appel, both #1 picks from Stanford.  Now both are gone.

Don’t draft nerds, as a franchise players. They know life exists after football. Luck was the nerdiest of them all.
