I continue to support Franklin as Penn State's head coach and hope they give him at least another few years to turn it around.

Is this satire? We wandered the desert for over a decade, Sark has taken us to back to back semis and absolutely fucking owns our number one rival to the point of them not scoring a TD on us in two years. Are you still drunk from last night???

Keep that in mind if they look like ass against any of those team. Or god forbid Kentucky/arky/miss st.

I clearly said I don’t think they will even consider it. Just that if it snowballs and gets MUCH worse that they think about it.

They won't even think about it. At all.

Anybody who didn't see this coming I don't what to say.

1.  Already unhappy with his home white-out loss to Oregon, which was simply brick 1000 in "can't win big games against ranked opponents" wall

2.  Turns around and loses the next week as a 20+ point favorite to a moribund UCLA team

3.  Doubles down on point two by then losing as a 20+ point favorite to a mediocre Northwestern team

4.  Loss in point 1 gets diminished even further when Oregon turns around and loses at home to Indiana.  Now look Indiana is obviously pretty good right now, but they're still thought of in football terms as....Indiana.

5.  A fan base that is bat shit crazy (see how they responded to Sandusky/Paterno affair)

Who are they going to hire with a history of covering up rape to keep with the Penn State tradition?

Curt Cignetti has more top 10 wins in two years at Indiana than Franklin had at Penn State.

Hire Elko. Do it!

he was an idiot for leaving vandy. he had a very good deal going there, huge alumni support. he could have squeezed them for more money and lived a good life in nashville

A 12 year run as a college football coach is many, many lifetimes.

i wonder his thoughts on being an offensive analyst

Holy crap, had it been that long?

Wow. Time flies.

Good … give him oversight of women’s volleyball.  That should eliminate them from serious contention.

Oh I like this. I’m sure they’ll panic and give him a jimbo contract this afternoon.

I get that Franklin isn’t a BAD coach or anything but this fall this year was stunning given all the hype. They will probably lose to Iowa coming up. I don’t think he’s an elite coach but he’s not terrible. This fall is stunning. Like holy shit. Unless he wanted to leave and kept that shit completely under wraps. He is failing spectacularly.

He’s an asshole of the highest order.

Word is Pepper Hamilton already has a short list of candidates.

Not that it matters (coach speak and all that) but Cig said he was super happy where he was and so was his wife (which matters.) he’s also 67 right? I get the lure of the money but Indiana now has Cuban Cash.

the tech coach will get a call and then a raise from those TT billionaires

This, I have always gotten a Tom Osbourne vibe about him which is appropriate with what we have learned about the Joe Pa era.

dont hex us bro, supposedly was a strong candidate for the job by cdc. dont we already have mr bad vibes in austin when he came from chapel hill.

It’s funny bc McGuire’s wife had a chat with him last year which he has openly talked about. She said “I have friends in Lubbock. I like it here. I have a bridge club I love. Win some fucking games so we don’t have to move.” Tech has the right guy for Lubbock.

Was going to object to this as well, until I realized “visitors locker room”. I’ll allow it.

I didn’t realize he’s that old.

honestly while Penn St is a higher profile job he’s probably king there and basically as good or better of a program right now.

He’s 64-years old now. Not old but, as you said Indiana has a lot of $$$ to throw at football. I know Curt. I like Curt. I don’t want him in Crappy Valley because that place is evil. I think, from what I have heard, that he is happy in Bloomington.

But, we shall see. But, is it worth another half-million dollars to go there? I don’t know. I think piece of mind is worth a lot.

He is trying to get fired at this point.

If so, he just added a win to his personal resume.

Damn how will he ever get over this with only 56million.

I wonder how they spread this stuff out? Like 5 million a year for 10 years?

Good firing for both sides. 12+ years was a good run for a program like Penn State but it's time to move on. Franklin will get paid and probably end up on ESPN or FOX

Schloss' wife wanted to stay in Ft Worth so he turned down the Mississippi State job.

Does Elko use the same agent as Jimbo?

Welp if I'm PSU I throw a big number at Cignetti and if he says no I throw a bigger one.

The bigger question is how many players off their roster do we want.

Crazy that so many shit programs in the b10 get +$60m a year just for being grandfathered in the conference.

Good points. You always bring excellent stuff to surly. I just feel like (and last year it wouldn’t have been true) it would be a dumb lateral move now he has Cuban money and wife happy and his age. It might even be less than a lateral move. Like look what he has managed to build at Indiana. Why leave? He is in the cat bird seat and OSU is beatable. Damn.

Doesn’t matter. There’s not an agent in the country that doesn’t know what aggy is willing to pay to not look cheap and/or not look unwanted.

Curt hopefully is too smart to make the same mistake Franklin made when he left a good situation. Penn State is snakebit, a cursed program not unlike aggy.
