Just checked the ratings from Robert Seidman this morning and Big Noon Kickoff won last Saturday. 2.4 million viewers compared to 1.8 million for College Gameday. I think this is the first time BNK has won the morning ratings showdown

I guess there's a riff between Big Noon set and Longhorn City Limits since 10-11 is when the headliner would play right behind their set?  No confirmation on location of broadcast but one rumbling has a spot similar to Gameday setup near LBJ Fountain.  And Heisman House, or some versioin of it, is supposed to be over by Winship for Ricky's 25th anniversary.  And sponsors and C3 have contractual deference for that spot by the tailgate tents.  Certainly would explain why it's taking so long to announce everything for what should be a very busy morning on campus.

Cool, cool.  Be a good 2'fer with the kids, walk 'em by that and then see the band/team march in immediately after.

I guess we will see who is playing LCL in a few minutes then.  If it's Pat Green again for some reason, I am on the record for saying I'm gonna stab a mother-fucker.

What does South Austin's Mom's vagina have to do with this conversation?

That was awesome.

More pandering to the dumbasses like Clay Travis at 9:54

Holy shit Big & Rich and Cowboy Troy have a new song for Big Noon Kickoff. That is a game changer. I’m no longer switching between the 2 shows now. Big Noon now is the clear winner. Not having Coming to your City as the opener on GameDay has really sucked.

Big Ten commissioner defends absurd Friday night schedule

The B1G's Big 3 won't play any Friday games, while six schools play twice. "Look, there are just traditional places that want to play more on Saturday," Petitti said. "We understand and respect that."

ZACH BARNETT            July 23rd

One way to tell you've built a conference that makes logical and geographic sense for your members is to use the word "burden" when describing playing out your own league schedule.

That's the word Tony Petitti used when answering questions at Big Ten media days on Tuesday. The Big Ten hasn't just adopted an 18-team, division-less format, it's hasn't just adopted an 18-team division-less format, it's done so while leaning harder into Friday nights than any other major conference.

"I think Friday is an opportunity for national exposure," Petitti said. "I think you're going to see some programs there really embrace the opportunity to play on Friday."

Some programs are being asked to embrace Friday nights more than others, that's for sure. Six schools will play two of their nine B1G games on Fridays, while six more are spared Friday games. Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State are part of one group, and you'll never guess which.

"Of course, we don't want to burden any one institution. We care about what happens at the stadium as well and what happens on campus," Petitti said. Three incumbent B1G members will play twice on Fridays: Michigan State, Purdue and Rutgers.

And, oddly, the Big Ten has chosen to lean into its nonsensical geographic arrangements by playing cross-country games on Fridays. Twenty-six of 81 B1G games will see a Pac-12 school trekking across half or all of the contenential United States to play a conference game, or a B1G school flying to the West Coast. While that represents roughly a third of the total Big Ten slate, it's 55 percent of the Friday night schedule. Oregon, UCLA and Washington will play twice on Fridays, and USC will play once.

Meanwhile, it certainly did not go unnoticed that the Friday night lights will not flip on at Happy Valley, the Big House or the Horseshoe. "I think on the hurdle side, look, there are just traditional places that want to play more on Saturday," Petitti said. "We understand and respect that."

If I'm the head coach of a non-Big 3 Big Ten member, I'd tell the league office we'll play on Fridays when the Wolverines, the Buckeyes and the Nittany Lions do. In fact, I'd even volunteer to go there on a Friday.

But we all know how that would likely go.

B1G Friday Night Appearances
2: Michigan State, Oregon, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA, Washington
1: Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, Northwestern, USC
0: Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin

"We're looking in Friday night to open up some new real estate that's just an easier competitive environment. Even if the games aren't always at the viewership level on Big Noon, they're going to be in such a friendly competitive window that I think we can actually do pretty well," Michael Mulvihill, Fox Sports's chief executive in charge of college football programming, said back in May.

Friday night is a long-term initiative for the Big Ten, and it's going to be more of an active initiative for some Big Ten members than others.

Hence the problem when your conference has too many members and only so many TV spots.

Big10 is already a dump lol

aggy really chomping at the bit to jump over there and place 4th in their division

Playing the day after Thanksgiving is a little different than playing any other Friday during the season.

Playing on Black Friday is not remotely the same as a Friday off of Thanksgiving weekend.

I wonder how the mighty, blue blood Trojans are feeling about a Friday night game against Rutgers?

Holy shit this West Virginia crowd makes aggy look so fucking pathetic. Is there any doubt that Big Noon Kickoff is the better morning college football show?

Just saw a Matt Leinart Draft Kings commercial on my service while watching BNK. The punchline made me lol and I don’t know if a commercial has ever caused that. Greatness if you can catch it.

No idea how much money Dabo has but surely he could buy a decent suit instead of borrowing one from Mike Elko

I just turned on GD for a moment and they were showing fan signs. One referenced anyone seeing a leprechaun from what 2006 or so?

Our visit next week to Ann Arbor will see the Michigan campus host both the Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN Gameday.  I don't recall the last time both morning shows visited for the same game.

Usually do Ohio st/Michigan every year..maybe if auburn was good one would go to the iron bowl

So they’re doing a special 3 hour version next week at Michigan. Honestly, the more compactness of Big Noon was one of their advantages over CGD

Machine Gun Kelly is the perfect guy for West Virginians
