I still think Stockton was the best one we've had. He just never was in a position for a memorable game winner or on a championship team.

What's his name from the radio

i saw Jeff Ward kick the game winner vs. SMU in 1986, the last real SMU team before their death. The program never recovered.

Field goal percentage

How about Pino!

Haha. Went to school and played soccer with him. He's a douchebag. His dad is a nice guy (a doctor here).

We had an LSU transfer also.  Forgot his name.  He was okay...  That juco kicker Herman's first year was the worst.  Or maybe that was Nick Rose who seems to struggle with PATs.

In 2008 and 2009 we had the top 3 FG kickers by percentage in school history at the same time.

Speaking of doctors, I'm pretty sure Stockton is one now.

We’ve come a long ways since Jason Ziegler.

I’d rather a kicker who is going to be a dr that a qb who is going to be a dr. My first ever Texas game was Route 66 with Dr. Richard Walton

I think all of Jeff Ward's misses were in the 1984 Cotton Bowl vs UGA.

Lawrence was very good but I don’t think anyone is going to argue he was better than Tucker or Dawson

was he the hero vs. Nebraska? the 1 second game?

Trent Domingue

And Josh Rowland

Domingue was dreadful outside of 30 yds

Rowland was just dreadful period

Almost. He was 15/16 entering the Cotton Bowl, then proceeded to miss from 40 and 43 yards out. Oof.

I was listening to Norm Hitzges (sp?) on the way to work one morning in what must've been 1987, and Gil Brandt was talking about players who were impressing the Cowboys.  He said Jeff Ward was separating himself as the replacement for Raphael Septien.  The Cowboys cut him a day or two later.  Ol' Gil didn't have his finger on the pulse, obviously.

Raul Allegre was at times great, but at other times a real head scratcher.  It was always a time to keep your fingers crossed when Raul lined up because in Fred Akers' offense, every FG was like gold.

I was at a Rose Bowl that ended in a Dusty Mangum field goal. He doesn’t qualify in great Texas kickers I guess. But he did that night.

Don’t forget about Mangum, 2004 Rose Bowl. I was a punter but worked Ray Guy camps for 2 summers with him. Cool dude.

Seems kinda tame for a kicker.

Miller over Coors

Shut your whore mouth.  My dad and his friends used to load up their cars to smuggle Coors out of Colorado back in the 1960s when it wasn't widely available.

It definitely has a happier ending than investment fraud

I can't personally remember a kick longer than 57 yards.  Props to Dicker.
That was good from at least 60 and probably 63.

Dicker is clearly a future NFL kicker

I remember this.

“Russell Erxleben. Russell Erxleben (born January 13, 1957) is a former American footballplayer and currency investor. He shares the record for the longest field goal, 67 yards, in NCAA history (if not college footballhistory), originally set in 1977 while playing for the University of Texas.”
