Can you issue just a generic blanket pardon or do you have to specify what exactly is being pardoned? I'm too lazy to look it up.

Nixon's was generic:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pardon_of_Richard_Nixon

Quote

The pardon of Richard Nixon (Proclamation 4311 ) on September 8, 1974, by President Gerald Ford granted Nixon, Ford's predecessor as president, a full and unconditional pardon for any crimes he might have committed against the United States while president.[1][2] In particular, the pardon covered Nixon's actions during the Watergate scandal.

I think he's being outrageous and deflecting from the Caitlin's substance in the article that pertains to the thread.  Here's more from the article from the rogue journalist who's more left leaning than anything and has been a prominent supporter of Assange, anti-US Empire/Foreign Policy, and was outspoken in her critique of the Russia-Trump narrative being a total nothingburger:

So there you have it. A mysterious stranger from the lying, torturing, propagandizing, drug trafficking, assassinating, coup-staging, warmongering, psychopathic CIA was working in the White House, heroically provided the political/media class with politically powerful information out of the goodness of his heart, and then vanished off into the Langley sunset. Clearly there is nothing suspicious about this story at all.

In all seriousness, even to call this spook a “whistleblower” is ridiculous on its face. You don’t get to call someone from the US intelligence community a whistleblower unless they are actually whistleblowing on the US intelligence community. That’s not a thing. A CIA officer who exposes information about government officials is an operative performing an operation unless proven otherwise, because that’s what the CIA does; it liberally leaks information wherever it’s convenient for CIA agendas while withholding all other information behind a veil of government secrecy.

What about the term spook in the article would lead one to believe it was being used as disparaging black people? Outrage culture gonna outrage.

I'm sorry, did I break your concentration? I didn't mean to do that. Please, continue, you were saying something about best intentions. What's the matter? ...Oh, you were finished! Well, allow me to retort.

Fuck off troll.

We might need to go to daily game day threads for all this Trump/impeachment/whistleblower news. Too much happening at once.

What are the odds the president talks about Khashoggi on one of those calls

The FBI and DOJ have explained their spying on a Presidential candidate in 2016 as that they had an obligation to do their job and investigate the Trump campaign for possible ties to Russia based on the dossier. This erupted into the what we have been dealing with the last three years. Turns out that there was no collusion, but no one seems to have any problem with the Obama Administration going after a political opponent. Hey that's their job. Good on ya...

Now, why would Trump have any less obligation to investigate Biden based on the information Trump has concerning Biden corruption in the Ukraine? How do we know Biden is not beholden to the Ukraine ? Can anyone say Kompromat? After the shit he pulled as VP while dealing with one of the most corrupt governments in the world . 145 on avg as the most corrupt country out of 175 during the time period in question. Weird how it can work both ways, huh?

I think it was just before the 2012 election that I had to endure a conversation with my mother to try and convince her that Obama was not indeed the antichrist. To be fair, she wasn't sure, but she'd heard it was a strong possibility in her Sunday school classes at the First Baptist Church in my hometown that I grew up in.

Be strong, don't lose your cool, and remember the particular parables that demonstrate Trump's ethos runs counter to their supposed beliefs.

You'd find little resistance to investigating Biden. Why didn't Trump use one of many sources,  domestically, to influence someone to thoroughly investigate Joe Biden? He has a comically agreeable asset as AG. He had two Republican chairs of investigative committees in both houses of Congress. Still has one now. Why? Why do you think these people are reluctant to investigate Joe Biden and his son for possibly benefiting financially from the influence of high profile political office using nepotism, access to channels of power and their prominent status and proximity to economic policy? I mean every Republican in Washington DC and half of the Democrats would love to scorch the earth of that topic. Why do you think they never did that with all the available tools within this country? What possible explanation could you provide for asking a foreign regime to handle that?

Trump wanted Ukraine to manufacture a Biden scandal for him.  It’s that’s simple. That was the plan.

Damn...Poked a hornets nest didn't I?

Then lay it out. I'm open to hearing how inviting other countries to investigate our political rivals is sound methodology to maintaining the health of the world's longest standing democracy. I'll add that negging you is silly as long as you're not just tossing feces and retreating to a tire swing and a banana crate.

First off there was no extortion. That was not in the transcript. No quid pro quo. Why do you make up shit? Who do you think you are, Adam Schiff?

Well....so....you’re not very bright.
Perhaps you’d like to read some trial transcripts where person after person has gone to prison based on a nearly identical exchange: 1) person 1 discusses contract/deal/etc. that they expect to get; 2) person 2, who controls whether the contract is issued, responds with yeah...I’d like you to do me a favor.
Seriously. You’re not even smart enough to be a decent troll. It’s more pathetic than it is anything else. I only hope for your sake that you’re also not smart enough to realize how substandard you are.

Trade and treaty agreements are exactly extortion when you get right down to it.

Let's use the Obama/Iran nuclear deal as a prime example.

Iran used it's nuclear development program as weapon that it would continue to develop unless we , the USA and the rest of the civilized world, would remove the sanctions and money restrictions against it's economy. It's economy being nothing but oil.

So, what happened? We signed the treaty and sent a C-130 full of $US dollars in the sum of $150.000,00,000 to Iran. Yes...They extorted 150 billion dollars from us. Then kept doing exactly what they were doing before.

There Is you your example of extortion on a Global government scale.
