A phenomenal book with tremendous research & haunting details, in the hands of a first-rate director it could be a powerful film. My MIL was from Galveston, her family took the train out of their days before the storm hit.

January 8, 20214 yr Years ago, the Coen Brothers were attached to write and direct with Brad Pitt to star but it obviously never happened. WWII pilot is shot down over Japan and has to cross the island for a chance at rescue.
January 8, 20214 yr Metzger's Dog or the Butcher's Boy series by Thomas Perry would be very entertaining.

Probably well known among the literati here, but Dickey is the author of Deliverance and was the poet laureate of the United States. He's a powerful writer. And, in keeping with the stereotype, a major drunk that somehow lived to be 73.
January 14, 20214 yr read this last year and it's one of the better books i've read. would make for a very good movie in the right hands.

January 23, 20214 yr Would love to see The Master and Margarita get the proper Hollywood budget and effects it deserves. There are some good Russian versions. Dreams of a Great Small Nation is the story of the Czechoslovak Legion that at one point seized control of the Trans-Siberian railway, the Imperial Gold Reserve, and kicked Bolshevik ass across the Russian East is epic and would be a spectacular period piece/blockbuster/Oscar bait. It’s too bad that it’s too late to cast a young Rachel Weisz as the love interest. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XN5HMQ8/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
January 24, 20214 yr If somebody wanted to take a crack at doing the next GOT, The First Law trilogy would be solid source material for 4-5 seasons, IMO, though I imagine it would cost a lot of money to do it right (sets, VFX...etc.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_First_Law
